Henry Ford might have said:

"It's available in any colour you want, as long as it's Fireglo, Mapleglo or Jetglo"

On my 4003S, strung with RotoSounds, I slap with my fingers only, a la Entwistle.
Makes a hellacious racket in a church band.
Other than that, I pick, even if Laboriel played the CD version.

Back to the topic: Each guitar gets its own technique set. The 4003S, strung with Roto's, is played picked, with 1 to 2 mm picks, or fingered using the Geddy Lee Smackdown (into the bridge pickup) or the OX-idental Bounce (off the 20th fret). The MG C64, strung with Pyramid flats, is only picked wit...

I own a Butler Era Redhead combo. My Fender sounds great thru it. My Rics don't. Reason? They don't sound like RICs.

Only my Selmer or my V-4B provide an even recognizable Rickenbacker sound.

To use the RIC thru the SWR, I would have to clean up the signal with my SansAmp.

Sorry, Philip,

The Eastern Hard Rock Maple, the Vintage Pickups, and flat, Knife-Edge body construction are simply non-negotiable features on any RIC Bass.

I remain convinced RIC's future is rehashing the Sixties ad infinitum. I wouldn't want it any other way.

(Posted by Atomic Punk):

Put down the solder gun and back away slowly....

Mark Arnquist once made it quite clear on this forum some months back - always use a soldering IRON on a Rick; the xformer in the gun degausses the pickups.

(I thought you knew that!)

I own a Mapleglo C64 with Pyramids, which are not the OEM strings. It has a softer, yet sweeter, bass sound than my 4003S, which has V63 pickups on it. The C64 is also a bit thinner of body than current offerings.

A hollow body RIC bass with one of these shape bodies:

325
330
350

NO BINDING!! …squared body edges, dots, Toasters, 5th knob, cap, just to mention a few.

Finishes: Ultramarineglo, fade to pale Ultra; Same, fade to Maple; Emeraldglo, as before.

No, I think the only Who song with a RM 1999 is I Can't Explain, actually.
