Re: Sweets From The Searchers

I received mine too, and am very happy to have it in my house. This is a work you will not get finished with in a day or two, it's massive. Looking forward to weeks and months of studying. I will always find something of interest: I never thought about Frank being lead singer on Crazy Dreams?! All f...

Re: Out Now

Added to previous:

Mike's book has a lot of quality, don't doubt it: Good indexes, appendixes, bibliography.
Noone interested in The Searchers' history should live without it!

It's also obvious that, since the split, there's been plenty enough work for both The Searchers and MPS!

Re: Out Now

Michael: Absolutely. Received, read and enjoyed it. It's not in my lap here and now. It's an able piece of writing, but overall not quite on same level as Frank's book. Mike adjusts some details from the early days (He was never in a skiffle group, not with young John nor with anyone else. As I reme...

Re: Out Now

Roy:"SJ is a good vocalist but for me comes into his own when doing non Searchers numbers". This rings true in my ears! But to be fair: I've found different versions on YouTube, of Goodbye my Love, which I think suits Spencer's voice well (both with and without hair!). This is a dramatic, ...

Re: Out Now

Thank you for the information, Roy! Money sent. Looking forward to read Mike's story. I never quite understood why he left John and Frank. Hope this book provides some light to this mystery. Don't want to be negative, but never felt that Spencer James fit The Searchers' heritage. My impression from ...

Re: Out Now

Wow! Must find a way to get hold on a copy! With hopefully the realization of Friedhelm Kaus' volumes, The Searchers Library are steadily growing!

Re: Book sensation!

(To DavyR: Yes, probably).

Here's the latest news about the project: Delayed release, reduced price. Still hope?

Re: Book sensation!

Just curious: No great interest in this enterprise?! I think he needed 800 subscribers to come through.
If no great enthusiasm: Too expensive? Not that much interested in the Searchers history?
Still hope?

Book sensation!

Hello, hope you have seen this http://www.the-searchers.co.uk/latest.htm Near bottom of News: German Friedhelm Kaus is ready to launch a 3 vol. book set about The Searchers! Looks terrific! The books (in a slipcase) is all ready for production. But he'll need a certain amount of buyers to push the b...

Sad news! I only saw The Searchers live once, and Billy was their drummer then. R.I.P.

Re: John Blunt

Yes, thanks for sharing this, Roy! I think the drummer and the band managed these two songs well. I understand that Blunt even sings and plays the guitar nowadays. But I guess it was never in question to let him join in as 3rd guitarist for When You Walk In The Room?! That would have been an extra b...

Re: Drumming up Vibrations

Hi again, I wouldn't hesitate to buy (or read) this book. With me, it arrived (with personal wishes from Paul) a couple of weeks ago. It's a very well told story, by a seemingly very likeable person! "Drumming up Vibrations" is dedicated to Tony Jackson. Chapter 3 (pp. 43-87) covers the Vi...

Re: Time moves on

Does this picture do the man justice, Roy, or is it a case of ugly surgery??

(Could this be a person, mentioned before on this thread? Initials the same as used by another legendary 60's performer?)
