Re: The Stone Roses.

Years ago back in the day several people would say to me," if you like the Byrds you must like the Doors too". WRONG!! The OP did make me think of this as there doesn't seem to be that close a similarity of the Byrds to Stone Roses, although not wanting to sound like a put down. However if...

Re: New to Ric family. Just introducing myself and my 620JG

Welcome and congratulations.

No wonder you're so proud, that 620 looks fab in JG. I really like Ricky's 600 range and have a 660-12 in FG but
have recently been hankering for a 660-6 in JG. Sadly that idea is a long way off....

Re: New JangleBox pedals

I'll second that, Steve Lasko is a good guy and his attention to customer care is second to none. I really don't know how you can be running your JB2 Byrds with batteries. My unit started distorting after less than two hours with batteries, not acceptable especially when gigging. I would seriously s...

Re: Interview with Ken Townsend

An interesting and worthy post Ken Townsend is a true gentleman who unlike so many laterday corporate studio managers, worked his way up and knew the business inside out. He was technically innovative, steered Abbey Road through some tricky times and helped her maintain her position as one of the to...

Re: how to get the Hank Marvin sounds?

This is an interesting thread and Julian's posts are on the button with excellent advice, observations and comments. Some years ago I got into a project that was close to my heart, writing and recording original songs in the Shads style. In the early days of this project I asked Bruce Welch to check...

Re: Sure Wish There Was Something New

Indeed, I'm seriously into my Jaguar at the moment so tend to spend time at OffsetGuitars, Heyho it's good to ring the changes. I may get shot down here but I really respect Rickenbacker for carrying on with the same models. Yes COYs were a good way to spice things up but do you know what? I find Ri...

Just passing comment here on the pronunciation of Beauchamp. The correct one is BEECHAM :D

Re: Would you sell a favorite guitar that you don't play?

Wow, thanks for all the great replies. Hey Nick, ever consider changing out the neck on your Strat? It's easy and you can hang on to the original one if you want to sell it. Hi, yes I have. The problem is this Strat has the newer "bi-flex" system and am not sure an old school neck would f...

Re: Would you sell a favorite guitar that you don't play?

I've got a beautiful US Strat, it was my chosen gift for 30 years service. Bought new at the time back in '98 it's a Special or Limited Edition two piece Natural Ash Strat. Sounds fantastic but...the neck for me in the last few years has been too thin. I'd be using it today if it wasn't for that. So...

Congratulations Gareth, that's a beaut!

And maybe the open back tuner slots make restringing just a bit easier.

Have fun

Re: Gretsch dropping 5120/5122

But those new BlackTop pickups are really good. Gretsch have improved things with the new 54XX range My advise would be 'try before you buy' though as there have been some QC issues. If you get a good one you've got an excellent instrument especially if you update the pots. Having gigged with my 543...

Re: 600-Series Shape Changes

Strewth, reading this was a real surprise, had no idea there had been recent changes to the 600 range. Wonder why? I have a 2000 model 660-12 and love it, as am sure many do. Can't understand why the shape should have been changed. In fairness the new style doesn't look too different and this could ...
