Re: Post of picture of you PLAYING your ric

Plexi TRC, but with Schaller tuners  . It has also been refinned by someone in it's past. I think it was originally mapleglo. It's beat up, needed truss rod work, had a dead neck pickup, and sported unbelievably thick roundwounds when I picked it up. After a lot of work it's an amazing playin...

Re: 4001C64 fretboard removal help

I didn't melt the inlays or the fretboard finish. My technique was to put the iron on the frets, let it sit for a few minutes, remove it and test the glue seam.

My iron has an auto shutoff if it sits in one place for too long, so that probably saved me from ruining the inlays.

Re: 4001C64 fretboard removal help

I just took the fretboard off of a 4001 with a smashed neck. I used a regular clothes iron to heat the neck. I started at the body, set the iron to high, and put it right on the frets. I worked an area of about 3-4 frets at a time. It seemed to take forever to heat the glue, but just when I was goin...

Re: Lets see your Grain & Flame

Need to get a better pic! Better pics indeed! What's the story on it? Beautiful. Here's some updated pics. It's an 86 4003s/5 I picked up from GC for *cheep*. I've had to replace the truss rods, but other than the previous owner adding a thumbrest it's in immaculate condition. It was also Miss Janu...
