Re: Push pull true bypass tone pot for bass?

Is there a way to make a push pull tone pot that will act like a normal tone pot with capacitor when up, and true bypass (remove the tone circuit only) when down? I've looked online and can't find any diagrams or anything. Thanks for any info. I found an example on the Fralin site but this mod take...

Re: TRC Logo Touch Up

I totally agree that constantly trying to negate the effects of age and wear on a vintage Rick is a waste of time and negates its "mojo". However, I would certainly do what the OP is suggesting (with a sharpie) if it's the only part of the instrument showing such wear and the rest of it is...

Re: Zero-Mod Thumb Rest, has anyone tried it?

The plastic bar that mounts to the two top pickguard screws above the neck pickup, with no additional holes or modifications needed. I see it on the auction sites, in clear or white. It seems like it could be useful, but then again, it could be something I'd take off and trash the first day. If any...

Re: Rickenbacker To Stop Lacquering Fretboads Starting Now

I have to say that I had a 450/12 from 1966 at one point and the very thin finish on the fretboard served me well. It should help that Factory in getting more out the door sooner as well with somewhat less labour. Also, it will make a refret easier as well. As for the look, I have become accustomed...

Re: Rickenbacker To Stop Lacquering Fretboads Starting Now

When my 4001FL needed work on its neck, I opted not to replace the fingerboard lacquer that needed to be removed - I've got to say it's never sounded better!

... not forgettting the 4002 of course, which featured a beautiful ebony fingerboard throughout its production run.

Re: Toasters vs high gains

This is just my personal opinion but I prefer the sound of toasters over hi-gains on my basses. I find that toasters offer more subtlety and a more natural tone, whereas hi-gains, because of the extra pickup windings and greater output, lose that subtlety and tone in favour of output power. For me, ...

Re: 8 String Bass Bridges with 8 Saddles

I've confirmed this to jdog privately but, for the avoidance of doubt - I'm most certainly still in! My 4003s/8 is currently strung "octave string first" but I've always wanted to reverse the pairs so that the fundamental is on top. It's only ever been the need for re-cutting the existing ...

Still very much interested here, if you manage to get the saddles done.
