Re: New Fender Wannabe Rickenbacker Cases?
My first Fender was a '65 Mustang. It came with a silver case (with orange interior). Didn't have a logo badge on it though.

Re: The Clash
Back in the day I loved ALL that stuff - Pistols, Elvis C., all the pub rock bands, and the Clash. To me, when playing that kind of punk or new wave stuff (when I wasn't playing Beatles etc.) there was nothing better than putting on the first Clash album and cranking up the volume. Especially turnin...

Best way is to see him live! Which I've had the pleasure of doing - up front - numerous times. Only advice is: EARPLUGS!

Re: Omnisonic Volume Control anyone?
Build one yourself and save a few bucks - look here: http://www.fortunecity.com/marina/newland/2081/id3.htm I'm the guy who wrote up the instructions, built and photographed the box on the site above. That was started on another forum many years ago when the Hot Rod Deluxe and Deville amps started g...

Re: Meet the Smithereens
IMHO, I think the Smithereens play the parts and arrangements pretty much dead-on right compared to the originals, but it still sounds like the Smithereens. And that's cool in my book. On both counts.

Re: faulty toaster
My '92 360/12V64 (bought used) came with "de-wound" high gain toasters in it. I forget what they measured out at, but the neck pickup quit working so I bought a pair of scatterwound Toasters from POTR. One of them was DOA due to the one wire on the back being broken off - note to POTR: Don...

Check out Peter Case. He's got lots of great acoustic blues-based albums out.

Re: Thoughts on the Vox AC15CC?
Well, how much extra did the extended warranty cost and how long does it last? It might be worth having. This is always one of those "you never know what might happen" kind of things. I tend to have confidence in new items (even these new Vox amps), but there's always those stories like &q...

Cole - Glad you're OK. Heal up fast!! Last Memorial Day weekend, my nephew was out on a leisurely ride, not doing anything stupid (like speeding, etc.), just cruising around. For some reason, he lost it on a curve, hit a guardrail, and went headfirst down an embankment. Broken shoulder, crushed ankl...

Lots of more recent pics of me on Webshots (address in my profile), but this one is from 1980 with my '76 Strat.

Re: Thoughts on the Vox AC15CC?
It's been some time since I've been here, but I'm glad this thread still exists. Love the updates (since starting in '06!!), and this will be mine... Sometime early last year, a friend and I tried out an AC15CC for about an hour. Didn't like it at first, but after messing with the knobs for a while ...

Re: 12-string amp shopping ... Vox
A few months ago I found a slightly used AC-30CC head and bought a new 2x12 cab to go with it (with the cheaper Wharfdale speakers). It sounds absolutely great with any/all of my guitars. This stuff is recent construction and it seems that improvements were made after the initial failures - anyway, ...

Great band! We've probably got everything they ever released, but I sure wish they'd played around here.

Re: Poll: When Did You Acquire Your First Ric ....
Guess I'll finally get in on this... My first was a used jetglo 320 (with an f-hole), bought in '81 from a guy who literally pulled it out from under his bed. Of course it had enough dust on the black case that made it look like a silver one. :) Said he'd had it a few years, but never learned to pla...
