Re: Rickenbacker 360/12 vs Taylor T5 12

I'm also curious as to the amp type. I play my Ricks and Fender electrics primarily with my Fender Deluxe Reverb amp,
but my acoustic/electrics I plug into my Fishman SA220 (SoloAmp.) I haven't tried the Rick with the Fishman, but need to take the time to do so.

Rickenbacker 360/12 vs Taylor T5 12

Being the owner of a 360/12 and a 370/12, I was curious if anyone here has had a chance to compare the sound of these to the Taylor T5 12 string? None of the local stores here have the T5 12 string to audition.

Re: McGuinn in concert last night

I saw basically the same show in February. Small theatre, 2-300 people, a great, intimate venue. Unfortunately, Roger only tried his Rick when he walked out on stage with "My Back Pages." He had a problem with his wireless unit, and never tried it again the rest of the show.

Re: Seeing McGuinn on 4/17, Irvington, NY

Drumbob, Thanks for the great write up. I am pleased that he played the Rick when you saw him, as so many of us were denied that pleasure due to various sound issues the last few reported shows. Roger does put on an excellent concert, and in the small venues that he plays, when he tells his stories ...

Re: Seeing McGuinn on 4/17, Irvington, NY

Drumbob, I kind of got the impression that Camilla ran the show when I first saw Roger in 2007. I had taken the pickguard from my 370/12 RM for him to sign, and got there a good hour before the concert, but Camilla, who was in the lobby selling cd's and posters, told me that Roger doesn't have time ...

Re: Seeing McGuinn on 4/17, Irvington, NY

I wrote a letter to the art center director at the theatre Roger performed in criticizing the poor sound quality with lots of distortion. It is the second concert I have seen there this year with sub-par fidelity; the first was a Poco concert. Their reply was that they are at the mercy of the artist...

Re: Seeing McGuinn on 4/17, Irvington, NY

Hey Drumbob, I will be curious to see your review of the concert. My wife and I just saw him here on March 14. That was the second time he has been here in two years, and we thoroughly enjoyed both shows. This time, however, he started offstage with the Rickenbacker doing "My Back Pages," ...

Re: RM show March 21, 2009

Dean, he played the Ric quite a bit when I saw him in February 2007 as well. I just think it's odd that I have now heard from 2 other posters on this year's tour plus myself, who have reported him having a problem with the Ric and going acoustic for the bulk of the show.

Re: New Byrds Influenced Artists

The Pretenders' latest album "Break Up The Concrete," has a cut with a definite Byrds guitar part and vibe. The cut is "The Nothing Maker," and it sure sounds like a highly compressed Ric 12 ala McGuinn.

Re: RM show March 21, 2009

Russell, how much did he actually play the Rickenbacker? I saw the exact same show on March 14, and he started the show with the Ric on "My Back Pages," but only played the opening before apologizing about a problem with it, and switching to the Martin. I read a thread on the UMGF by a pos...

Re: AFG vs FG - A Quick Survey

I guess I have been lucky with my fireglo Ricks. My 370/12RM is a 1989, and my 360/12 is a 1992, and the color of both is nearly identical without a pink center. Sorry, the only pic of them together also includes my 660's.

Re: Did anyone see him in Florida Feb/27/2009?

Jim, You may want to send a message to Sojourner Recovery Services here and ask the booking question. They have booked Roger here both in 2007 and 2009 for a theatre that only holds I would guess 300 or less maximum. Brent Russell has been pretty easy to communicate with here. brussell@sojournerreco...

Re: Did anyone see him in Florida Feb/27/2009?

Ironically, I had half jokingly told Roger in an e-mail to him , when I first bought the concert tickets three months ago, he could borrow my 370/12 RM if an unforseen circumstance gave him need for another guitar .

Re: Did anyone see him in Florida Feb/27/2009?

Roger's concert this past Saturday, March 14, was an outstanding event. Roger was very personable with his stories and anecdotes, and the sold out crowd definitely appreciated the man and his music. He received 3 standing ovations, and he was obviously pleased with the crowd, too. The only major bum...
