It's a very nice looking bass, not so sure about the upside down looking TRC though.

Personally whether flats or rounds, dont like the tone when they are fresh out of the pack, I love when the strings settle in and lose that extreme brightness to them.. I'm completely the other way - strings are little or no use to me once the brightness is gone. Horses for courses though, isn't it...

I spotted a few of these recently on the Kurosawa Music website. At first I thought hmmm, v63's, but they are clearly advertising them as "Rickenbacker 1999"s. All skirting around 2500-3000 quid (sorry, 4000USD for those not UK based) and all fireglo. They had about four up when last I loo...

Much prefer the bass sound from back then - proper treble clank.

Would dearly love a set of Taurus 3's but I'm the same - the other half would actually kill me if I was to rock up with a set! That said, if you're doing alright with the PK5 then you're right to hang back for the 8 string.
