Re: “Professor Plum” The 1970 4001 21 Fretter

I didn't say the harness wasn't original... it's just not from this bass. There's a cut piece of stranded wire on the bass tone pot, on the same connection as the tone cap, which doesn't belong. Also, the pickup solder joints on the switch tabs have been resoldered. The harness came out of another i...

Nice dark burg finish... good score.
The inscription isn't original... it is anyone's guess as to the 68 date.

The harness doesn't look original to that bass... the solder joints are a giveaway.
It's been refretted as well.

Lovely bass!

I've owned several '72 basses... they're 7.25". Same as the 60's basses.

It's a finish defect, plain and simple.

I've owned dozens of Ric basses, and played 100s... this is not the standard for Ric.

3rd and 5th fret dots are visible in this photo, so yes, both sides of his fretboard have markers.

Here you go...

You might find it cheaper elsewhere... Just be aware that the long Ric bat won't fit.

Re: Crushed Pearl Inlays

It's crushed white mother of pearl...
I use this, with West Systems epoxy:

Matches perfectly with the original 60s material.

It most certainly was (if it was original)... they all were since that design was created, until the spring of '73.

Nice work Koji... FYI the bobbin in Squire's bass, in that photo, is a RIHS bobbin. It's not his original pickup bobbin.

Re: Fixing the notorious Grover Wavy tuners for good

I could not find a step by step guide of how it's done so this is how I went about it. Nothing new here... and there is a guide for this procedure, right here on RRF: http://www.rickresource.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=413403&hilit=tap+grovers Paul W. has been doing this for years. I beli...
