Re: Now what?

Tape around it, get some flat nose nippers, grab, twist.
Or.. Diamond file a small groove, just enough to get a flat blade screw driver to pull it out.

Re: Post of picture of you PLAYING your ric

Thanks!
Pedals.. Xotic compressor, fairfield circuitry barbershop and fairfield unpleasant surprise. A basic but varied setup, from nice grindy overdrive to over the top fuzzed out 8 bit crunch.

Re: Finish advice for 4003

Yes, the factory could have mixed up the serial numbers. I was only trying to imply that the mystery isn't solved yet, part of that mystery being that the factory records seem to indicate something very different than what the box for the Jetglo is showing. And now, more mystery, another Jetglo ins...

Re: Finish advice for 4003

I have a Jetglo 4004 with a ding right by the output jack. It's red underneath the jetglo. Pics? See, I wonder if its a reaction of the black with something that stains the colour under, like sometimes a black leather strap will leave a purple or similar stain when it comes into contact with someth...

Re: Finish advice for 4003

I don't see that as conclusive, unless you know what happened with it. Some dummy could have dyed it red after the fact? Unless this was a brand new bass? Well... As everyone is playing detective here, I'll do it too! From the picture, the "JG". writing with the marker pen looks like it w...

Re: Level 3 finish on 4003

I just want to add.. (Seeing its my bass), I've not intended any malice towards Ric with this, my original post was actually trying to find out if I could get it spot fixed!

Regardless, John has taken time to talk to me about it and ill be happy to help him with what ever references I can supply.

Re: Finish advice for 4003

Hmm.. I hate to be the bearer of bad news in regards to 'we never over spray'.. Just happened to see the top of the box.. Serial number matches.. colour matches, ship date would be correct. Sorry guys, this HAS to be a factory repaint.. It left the factory as JG. Ill just add, I'm not after anything...

Weird...
Yes.. Aliens who fastidiously stripped it to bare wood, carefully dyed it with a fireglo finish, then half arsedly finished it in jet glo!!

Damn lazy aliens!!

Alright.. Answer me this one..
Curiosity got the best of me.. I dampened a piece of tissue.. Red starts coming off, it faded it considerably.

Re: Aussie Roll Call

Yo, I'm in melb!
I play bass with plastic spaceman (www.plastic-spaceman.com), I just got myself a spankin 4003 (which is peeling paint but hey, was priced well!!)

(Some eagle eyed folk will say, hey that bass guys name is russell.. Alex is my middle, some know me as Russell, some as Alex!)

Re: Finish advice for 4003

Ok, I've not peeked inside many Rics.. This is the control cavity. This is just a matter of curiosity now. (Jammed the bass at rehearsals last night, good god it slays.. Ric->fairfield overdrive->GK RB->2xGK212. It was beyond brutally viscous!) http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/Mowchai/deed9998-...
