Re: Echo Units Past and Present

The discussion about echoes and their different settings, especially concerning The Shadows, is always interesting. As for myself, I'm quite convinced that the different echo types we've heard on the recordings are not the result of careful planning on Hank's part, rather it's the result of the vari...

Re: Who Is The Man Of Mystery?

Hi

The song was written as theme music for a TV-series which was on air 1959-1965 in UK. The series was based upon the criminal mystery books by Edgar Wallace (1875-1932), and there was no main character starring , so I guess one could say that The Man of Mystery actually IS Edgar Wallace

Re: Hank Marvin Tab?

Hi

Interesting, would love to see how they are tabbed. (As most scored music for the Shadows doesn't reflect the actual playing, nor the arrangements on the records.)

Re: Which strings do you use for Shadows/ Surf music?

Elixir Nanoweb .010 set Sounds good enough - and lasts forever and ever with unchanged sound until they eventually breaks, which takes even longer.Expensive, yes, but enormous value for your money.... While most strings go dead on me halfway into a gig, these sound the same as new after at least 30 ...

Re: Hank Marvin Tab?

Hi To my knowledge there are no official releases of tabs for Shadows songs. Only scores which usually does not reflect the actual playing on the records, and which almost never includes the "middle 8" parts (the small improvisations). You will have to download tabs from the Internet (such ...

Question for admin

Hi As you may know, the msn boards are about to be shut down and a possibility to migrate to Multiply has been offered. Multiply seems to be intolerably slow and does not seem to meet the requirements for a highly specialized forum such as Shadow Music. (And it probably won't get any better when all...

Re: Please Don't Tease

Hi Just remembered I made a tab for this solo (or rather the solo from the record, a bit different). Tried to upload it but the file extension .txt was not allowed????? nor .tab. Why is that?? BTW long time no see, have been quite busy at work for some time and at the moment I'm more into classical ...

Re: Charlie Hall and "Echoes From The Past"

I don't use the performance mode but if I did, I would choose the "Sleepwalk" patch for slow ballad-type numbers, the "Savage" patch for uptempo, rockier numbers + one with very mellow echoes for Burns-type numbers.

Gorans site may be down temporarily

Hi all Due to a change in my ADSL-connection, enabling you to download with 3 Mbits instead of 0,8 Mbits, the server might be unreachable for a few days! But then again, it may work during the upgrade....... BTW By the end of the week my site will reach 100 000 visits since Feb 23, that's about 900 ...
