Re: Strap Button Loose - Solutions?

I've had this on both mine, simplest fix I've found is to wrap a little white plumbers tape (the PTFE stuff) around the thread and screw it back in. The tape provides sufficient friction to prevent the strap buttons undoing themselves (even with a tight fitting strap gripping them) but not so much t...

Re: New look for a 4003

Or...avoid issues with finish reacting, peeling off etc. by starting with a clear acrylic guard, trace out the guard shape on your choice of paper (shiny wrapping paper / old poster / LP album cover / large photos / whatever) and stick it behind the clear guard, held securely in place by the guard s...

Re: Chinese article

Nice to see such a thorough write up from so far away, somebody clearly loves their Rics!

This, thanks to Google Translate, is my new favourite description of the string mute from the article - "have the leading edge of the bridge can be Rubber stuffy string means elevating"

I found this quite touching to see, taken by a Randy Chapman (not a user here as far as I can see) from a recent show at the King Centre: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10208444640299298&set=a.10208444639819286.1073741881.1405261597&type=3&theater https://fbcdn-photos-g-a.akamai...

Re: Mercy!

It never ceases to amaze me how instruments such as this can possibly acquire so much damage, apparently accidentally. There's a saying in England - if a bird shits on your windscreen, don't ever take her out again.... 8) Ash ...You have women that will do that on a car?!?!?... Have you not ...

Re: New Vintage case

You're welcome. If you go down the Hiscox route and if you do ask Hiscox direct for the padding double check whether the padding they'll supply is suitable for Ric finishes.

Re: New Vintage case

I've one of Hiscox cases larger style bass cases. Very well made and a lot cheaper than a Ric case. Their standard one is too small for a Ric but the STD-EBP case is fine, slightly too large truth be told but Hiscox offered to supply extra padding when I emailed them. I didn't bother taking them up ...

...I'd recommend using the deoxit that doesn't contain a lubricant for this application, you don't want your speaker leads to be too easy to pull out in a gig situation... Which DeoxIT is this? I was unable to find a spray of theirs that doesn't contain lubricant. For now I am using the 1/4" p...

Re: DeoxIT for 1/4" input

Safest way to apply it here is to spray your speaker lead's plug barrel then insert/withdraw it loads (respray the plug now and again). This will transfer the deoxit to the inside of the socket safely and inserting / withdrawing will help scrape any deposits off too. I'd recommend using the deoxit t...

Some of the forums I'm a member of are available via the Tapatalk app on my phone which presents the forums in a mobile friendly manner. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapatalk Apparently it can be installed by a forum owner in 15-20 mins (see https://tapatalk.com/start-here.php) and once done anyone...

I fixed this on mine by putting plumbers tape (PTFE tape) around the thread and then screwing it back in, it adds enough extra friction to stop the involuntary unscrewing.
