I have a 70 4001 and an 05 4001 C64S. Both have Dan Markley stainless round wound 050-110. No problems at all. Sometimes the older hairpin truss rods don't like the heavy strings. I had a 76 that would bend the truss rods within a day of putting strings on. I finally replaced the rods and strung it ...

I own this bass now as of yesterday. The look and feel are amazing. Other than setting it up a little differently for my personal preferences, I plan on changing nothing.

Thanks for the information. I actually played a new 4003s a couple of weeks ago. I loved the way the neck felt.After I got the money for it,it had already sold. They also have a new 4003 in stock but I didn't play it. Im thinking of going back this weekend and checking it out even though it's about ...

I came across a late 90s V63 for a good price. I have also been looking at a new 4003 or 4003s. Whatever I buy will be played a lot. I currently own a 76 4001. As much as I love it, it does not like my constant abuse. I play 50-110 Stainless roundwounds. It needs truss rod work and has a small crack...
