Re: 300 series return to 21 frets
I've been out of the loop for a year or so... I wouldn't have expected them to go back to finished fretboards or 21 frets, but these new instruments are looking really sharp! The slimmer headstocks and vintage knobs are nice touches, too.

Re: 1980 320 Project
Cool project! It’s one of those things where you can do lots of things and not feel too guilty about it. If the gold-foils are really low output, maybe just putting a toaster or Hi-Gain in the bridge would balance out well. I have a 7.4k toaster in the neck and 12k Hi-Gain in the bridge of my 330 an...

Re: TRC Logo Touch Up
I would be torn, too. As easy a touch-up as it might be, some of my favorite RIC players also have worn lettering on their TRCs and it’s a testament to the years of playing those instruments have had.

Re: Rickenbacker To Stop Lacquering Fretboads Starting Now
I saw that Facebook post, wondered if it was legit, but it seems so! Compared to the few of us who liked the quirky finished fretboards, there has always been a much larger crowd of people grumbling about them, so this is probably a smart move. "Give 'em what they want!" (Now I wonder if t...

Re: Rickenbacker 330/6 Nut Blanks?
Does anyone here know where a fellow could acquire a pre-sized nut blank for a 330/6? I would like to re-slot the grooves on my 2005 330/6 to stop the high E string from slipping off the fretboard at the 2nd fret--I need to adjust the spacing so that the high E slot moves a hair north. I'd rather n...

Could just be my eyes, but the fretboard binding looks to be a different shade of white than the body binding. I bet it's been replaced. But it's a nice looking instrument!

Re: 1980 4001 - no side fretboard markers?
Hey Steve - have you actually got the bass in your hands now? If so, I'd be really interested to see what that neck binding looks like in detail. Any chance you could take some big, hi-def macro photos of the binding surface and post them (or post links to them if they're really big)? I've still go...

Hey, you're the one who has to be happy with the guitar in the end! No judgment here.
Before you send it back, you should measure the neck thickness with a pair of calipers (1st and 12th fret are common places for measurement) so you can start having numbers for what feels best in your hands.

Re: New Jetglo 360! But…did I get a bad fretboard?
Just become a famous musician, and future generations of guitarists will drool over that one Rickenbacker everyone knows was yours by that knot in the fretboard. ;) Reminds me a bit of the Great Red Spot on Jupiter. Functionality-wise, you don't have anything to worry about. It's not weakening the n...

Re: 330 Mix/5th Knob Mod Advice
I used my 5th knob as a bass cut for a while, but can't remember what cap value I used. It worked nicely to trim output and brighten the sound at the same time!

There's a menu at the top of the forum called "Rickenbacker Register". Once you've clicked that, there's a "Register Menu" at the top where you can "Add New Record." EDIT: Just realized you had two threads, and you already got plenty of good answers in the other one. :l...

Re: Tony Iommi's effects
Old thread, but here's the classic Brian May "Star Licks" video where he demonstrates the difference a treble booster makes in his sound. It's a little over 3 minutes in: wkhmDEKeaBU He started with a Dallas Rangemaster, but had to move onto a different model when a roadie threw out the or...
