Re: ANY (ROCK BAND) BEATLES SONG. ISOLATED TRACKS!

And I guess this finally ends the argument over whether Paul tuned his E string down to D on the chorus. Thank you! Wait, was that an argument? What have I missed?? It wasn't a very long argument and it was on another forum. Someone transcribed the bass part to "Something" And had the bri...

Re: ANY (ROCK BAND) BEATLES SONG. ISOLATED TRACKS!

I'm late to the party, but the isolated "Something" bass track let me hear things I haven't heard in 40+ years of listening == especially the little embellishment on the high not during the "you're asking me ..." part. And I guess this finally ends the argument over whether Paul ...

Beatles tuning standard in the studio

Perhaps this question has already been asked and answered here , but ... I've been in conversation on -- ahem -- another forum about playing along with the Beatles remastered CDs, and the subject of why the tuning on the recordings seems to vary and is almost always sharp compared to A =440. I know ...

Re: New Revolution take found.

I like the hybrid version they did in the video for "Revolution" -- the one where they sang the "Shoo be doo wop" backing vocals at the fast tempo.

Re: America - rough mix

When my band covered "America" and "Yours is No Disgrace" back in the '70s, I always used the neck pickup of my 4001 for the "softer" bits -- during the "Laughing on the bus" section of "America," and the first "Death defying mutilated" sec...

Re: McCartney's love of the the "Zero Fret"...

Yes, a strap, although supposeldy putting your strap on the neck this way leads to tuning problems if you play standing up. I Imagine the Redwings sticker came when he was touring with (red)Wings. At least it doesn't say "Jane Forever." :D As in Asher.

Re: George and his Gretsches

Which Gent was smashed on the British freeway before the opening night of the last Beatles UK tour? And which Gent was given away to Brian O'Hara of the Fourmost and is today retained by Ringo?. Don't know which is was, but my friend Steve Dudas, who played in the Roundheads for nearly 10 years and...

Re: Paul's fingerstyle bass playing

I figured he strung it upside down, if he used it. I was just thinking... As someone who's restrung literally countless guitars/basses, I can assure you that restring a bass, especially a bass with a Fender-style headstock where one string travels a short distance from the nut to the tuner and anot...

Re: Paul's fingerstyle bass playing

For what it's woth, I saw Paul in DC in August and he played with a pick all night except for fingerpicking guitar acoustic. He used different picks for guitar and bass -- heavier for bass is my guess.

nukebass wrote:I think McCartney used his fingers on "And I Love Her." He's also shown playing that way in the movie.
In "A Hard Day's Night, Paul uses a pick for "And I Love Her." Whether he did in the studio, who knows?

His chord progressions always have some unexpected turn. Not a bad song, there!
