I have a couple of photos showing the PU removed and the black junk. It all just crumbled apart. The pots are pretty dirty. Think I will replace them. Just purchased a Model G Deluxe steel body, gold plating. Had newspaper inside from Dec 8 1948. Also had a bunch of black junk that someone poured or injected into the back of the cavity. Anybody ever seen that?

Is this a steel body? I just bought a steel body Deluxe and had to take it all apart. Horseshoe pick up assy was a bit tight but with a little wiggling, got it done.
