April 72. Built right at the beginning of three-piece neck era, and right at the end of neck-thru construction era for 4000 and 4001s.

Even if not routed and channeled for a neck pickup, I think would look funny with an abbreviated PG.

Steve, Thanks for posting those two close-up pictures. No complaints about the rest of the instrument, but that fingerboard is as nice as I've ever seen !!

When I needed a new pickguard for my '72 MG 4000, I also thought the standard "bright white" looked out of place. Tony Dudzik at Pickguardian made a clear plexi guard with white back paint and rounded-over edge bevel. After a couple of years, the paint around the mounting holes now has lit...

Have never been on facebook and I rarely want/need to post, but I read RRF (and the TB Ric Club) every day so I can learn all that I can about these amazing instruments.

. . . and the interesting souls who also choose to play them !
