Re: Difference Between Neck and Bridge Hi-Gain Pickups?

Thanks for clearing that up...

So...

Does anyone know the differences between the neck Hi-gain and the bridge Hi-gain pickups?

Re: Difference Between Neck and Bridge Hi-Gain Pickups?

I've seen some toasters in the bridge position, but I believe these are just toaster covers on a Hi-gain since the toasters have the magnet rods protruding far below the pickup and you'd have to drill or cut the plastic bridge pickup support piece to mount a toaster. Not so. A toaster can easily be...

Difference Between Neck and Bridge Hi-Gain Pickups?

What are the differences between the neck and bridge Hi-gain pickups? Besides the larger magnet on the bridge pickup, what are the differences that this produces? I would like to mount a neck Hi-gain in the bridge position as I like the looks of the chrome ring on the neck pickup. As far as I can te...

Re: NGD 4003 Montezuma Amberglo

To address my own previous post, I finally received an answer regarding the lack of stereo output on these limited basses. Here is what I was told when I asked why this mono "feature" was not addressed in the listing: "the Ric O Sound is just a seldom used feature and the extra wiring...

Re: NGD 4003 Montezuma Amberglo

Hmmm... Is anyone as surprised as me to learn that these are mono only? https://i.ibb.co/7C120w7/MONO-OUTPUT.jpg I'm not a Rickenbacker historian, but I always thought that all 4003 basses were stereo besides the 4003s and the different 4001 V and C series over the years. These Montezuma Amberglo ba...

Re: I've been seeing this in my mind for years....

I like how you weren't afraid to drill a new hole for the bigger pickguard. Looks very well done. I don't care for the thumbrest, but I understand why you have it there. Why didn't you go all the way with a horseshoe surround? You were almost there (not that it doesn't look great as it is); it just...

Re: Question About The New Bridge; Does It Sit Closer The Ne

I was going to buy one of those purple basses, but I'm damn glad they are sold out. I would have been ****** as hell when THAT beautiful finish lifted at the bridge. There was no way I was going to risk it but I was tempted. I'm so glad they are gone. :)

Nice! Who does those? Tony (Pickguardian) made that, along with a standard white version, for me. 4003JPSVP_1200_7114.jpg I like how you weren't afraid to drill a new hole for the bigger pickguard. blueflamerick wrote:It's definitely closer. Measuring from the end of the fretboard to the bridge is about 8 3/4" with the older bridge, 8 5/8" with the new one.
Did you measure that on an actual bass?

Thanks!

Re: Question About The New Bridge; Does It Sit Closer The Ne

That's what I was afraid of. I am old school, from an era when we weren't afraid to modify any instrument. I frequently route for a jazz pickup between the bridge and the Rickenbacker bridge pickup. On basses with the old bridge, there is plenty of room. With the new bridge, it doesn't look like the...

... similar to the Rick inlay plastic material. How's this pickguard for matching the current inlays? http://www.rickresource.com/forum/download/file.php?id=55461&t=1 That's a good match. Looks much, much better not only in the color match but also the pattern match...and in the lack of the str...

Re: I've been seeing this in my mind for years....

Maybe solid pearl would work (without the ply stripe around the edge; you can get beautiful solid pearl material at Warmoth in sheets) but it kinda has the same effect as when people put a tort pickguard on a Rick. The ply stripes for some reason make it look Fender-y; Ricks just don't look right wi...

Question About The New Bridge; Does It Sit Closer The Neck?

Hi everyone. I was looking at these pics: https://www.andybabiuksfabgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Rickenbacker_2020_Fab_Gear_Limited_Edition_Candy_Apple_Purple_4003_Model_Bass_8493-400x400_t.jpg https://www.andybabiuksfabgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Rickenbacker_2020_Fab_Gear_Limited_Ed...

Re: Is The Finish Lifting/Cracking Problem By The Bridge Fix

Besides my NOS COY SeaGreen 4003 bridge finish cracking/lifting (which truly surprises me since it was made before the cracking became a widespread issue and it's never had an entire song played on it), I have a 1986 V63 that the clear is separating around the bridge. But, that bass is well played, ...

Re: Is The Finish Lifting/Cracking Problem By The Bridge Fix

Of what???

The new Montezuma Amberglo or the problems I've had with the paint cracking at the bridge?

If it's the latter, I'm not going to post those because I don't want have the thread closed or have the pics removed as has happened in the past.
