Sweet '72, John! Must be an early - mid '72 to still have Flats without walnut wings.

Re: Still looking for a C or D Grover tuner for my 72' 4001..
Hello everyone. It is good to be back although I will admit that my training has kept me out of bands, and allowed my instruments to collect more dust than I would have liked as of late. My return seems to be a good one so far however as I have found my 72 a vintage style case (ok, not that hard to ...

Re: Rickenbackers Overpriced?
Prices on Ebay look pretty hot again.
If you can stand the wait for ordering a new one... I think they are great value for what you get. The thing is, where I am from they are rare as hens teeth and get snatched up fast.

Re: I Have a New Bass! I Have an Amp Question!
I will put in a pitch for the Traynor YBA200... good tube tone and light for a tube amp. I prefer it to the tone to the Orange AC200. Being a fraction of the cost never hurt either. Another great tube amp I had the opportunity to record with was a great Ampeg 100W V4B. I ran it through 2x15's and lo...

Re: 73's on ebay and other musings.
The odd thing is, after playing bass/guitar for about 28 years now, I've never sold a bass or guitar. I don't collect like a feind, so that's part of it, but I suppose I've been pretty discriminationg with what I've gotten over the years. I think that is my goal... but who knows if it will be able ...

73's on ebay and other musings.
It has been a while since I have been on the forum... but I decided to stop by after seeing 3 73' 4001's on eBay at the same time. I wonder if people are unloading due to anticipation for new bases with checkerboard binding... I seem to have caught wind that they might be in the works (maybe on this...

I boil my strings once... maybe twice and it really brings life to the tone. After that I find they risk breaking at the tuner end. I also like lighter gauge (40-100) rotosound roundwounds. However I did get some coated 45-100 elixir roundwounds last fall I believe, and they still hold pretty nice t...
