Re: #playforChris5

It is always a pleasure watching fans from around the world, showing their appreciation of Chris Squire's music. Of course, it is nice to see so many different RIC basses played by their owners in one video. I am glad to be able to participate in this tribute to Chris Squire. Though I dislike showin...

Re: A bit rough around (some) edges...is this normal?

My 2016 4003S FG also had the same rough finish problem, also around the edge. I went through this forum and the RIC forum to research about finish-related warranty claims and decided there was no point in raising the issue with either my dealer or RIC. Even if they were willing to take it back to f...

Re: 2nd Edition progress

I preordered my second edition on Amazon ,looking forward to it How did you do that when it isn't even listed yet (as far as I can see)? Found the pre-order page at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Rickenbacker-Electric-Bass-Years-Bottom/dp/1495095215/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1491066623&sr=8-2&...

Re: 2nd Edition! Help!

Germany's Bass Quarterly magazine did a review on the Fire Alarm Red guitars back in 2014. That review (in German, of course) could be downloaded from RIC's German distributor web site: http://www.rickenbacker-guitars.de/fileadmin/_rickenbacker/Images/News/BQ_RIC.pdf I hope that could be a possible ...

Re: Who's playing stereo?

I don't foresee getting a second bass map just for the ROS. However, I have been tinkering with this idea for a while for recording: the neck PU goes to my Fender Rumble 100v3, the bridge goes to a Sansamp BDDI. The outputs from both going to my 8-track recorder via XLR. Not sure how that would soun...

Re: Who's still waiting on a 4003S?

Thanks, Paul. I feel better now. :D The finish on back of the lower bout is a bit rough around the edge. Again, when I run my hand around the bass, that area just feels different. Maybe I could buff that area with rubbing compound later on. The intonation was slightly off on 3 of the 4 strings (flat...

Here is mine:

I was wondering if this is normal:

It looks like a bit of wood is missing to me. It feels weird to run my hand around that area. It did not look or feel natural to me.

Re: New 4003S!

Not only is that Chechen fingerboard exquisite, that's one of the nicest Fireglo finihes I've seen on a recent Rick - a few tend to have a too hard defined line between the red and the amber, whereas this beauty has a more gradual transition between the colours and is very smart.
