Re: Tuner replacement on B6

I've got a Rickenbacher B-6 , 1.5" HS pickup, string thru body, with identical tuners, it's the model with translucent pearloid plates. From what I've read this particular model was from around the 1939-40 period. I have seen those tuners on other pre-war B-6 models.

Re: Tuner replacement on B6

Say, Rob -- I know this is an old thread, but did those tuners turn out to fit? I'm in a similar situation, and it would be great to know if anyone has had success with these tuners. Thanks! Mark...... Better late than never I guess. I ended up looking thru the link that Richard sent me, and then c...

Re: Is there a way to remain logged in for longer periods?

Just an update, I didn't get rid of AOL, but I did get rid of my Sony Vaio, and ended up with a Mac, now I've remained signed on for months. Seems to have solved the "staying signed-in issues".

Re: Very Rare Bird

It could very well be the same instrument, Richard. I lived on The Big Island from 1986 thru 1992, and used to visit Island Guitars every time I had to fly to Oahu for business, I'm fairly certain that it was there when we moved to the mainland in '92.There were quite a few Bakelites that turned up ...

Re: Very Rare Bird

I remember seeing this same model, only in mint condition, at Island Guitars near Ala Moana mall in Honolulu, back in 1988. At first I thought it was a Silver Hawaiian, but then Jim Danz, the shop owner, told me it was a Model G that was made in the '50s. I seem to recall that the knobs on this part...

Re: Rickenbacker Electric 12 Book - Has Anyone Seen It?

The Smith book was a good start and certainly limited by the technology available at the time. He's written some excellent books on other brands too. The "guitar book" benchmark these days are the recent efforts by folks like Ignacio Banos's "The Blackguard". or Yasuhiko Iwanades...

Re: Rickenbacker Electric 12 Book - Has Anyone Seen It?

Received the long awaited book yesterday. It has some nice pictures in it, but it's basically a rehash of his earlier book, sort of ho-hum. How many times can you recycle the info on Rickenbacher lapsteels; I guess it was good for filler, boosting the page count. What new information in the book cou...

Re: New Rickenbacker 12 string book

Stan... are you stateside? Seems like the book has been available in the UK and Europe for some time now. Unless they moved Texas, yeah, I am. :D I got the book from an independent dealer selling through Amazon. The book is also available through the Backbeat web site. As far as I know you just can...

Re: New Rickenbacker 12 string book

Any update on the book release date, apparently it was supposed to be released on March 15th, 2010 according to Hal Leonard, but that date has passed, now the site says it's unavaulable.

Re: McGuinn lower pickguard

I believe Joe is still in business, as he was able to build a Treble Boost circit for me a few months ago. Sounded like he was very busy working on guitars. I'm impessed with the Vox Treble Boost circuit he built for me, really changed the sound of the 370/12 making it a lot more versatile and dynam...

Re: Rickenbacker Electric 12 Book - Has Anyone Seen It?

"I wasn't attempting to insult you. It's not like we're incapable of making mistakes either" I wasn't insulted, no harm done. I'd just like to get the straight info on whether they'll release it here in the States, I think a couple of copies have made their ways to collectors and those who...

Re: Rickenbacker Electric 12 Book - Has Anyone Seen It?

It might be that Barnes & Noble has it listed as a second edition because of Tony Bacon's previous Rickenbacker book. Not in the normal sense. The definition of a first edition book is the first run of a book in the same typeface or setting. If someone is selling true first editions of a book, ...

Re: Rickenbacker Electric 12 Book - Has Anyone Seen It?

I've had one on order from Amazon.com since late last Summer, and it's been somewhat frustrating receiving their monthly updates changing the anticipated ship date. Seems like it's been changed at least 6 or 7 times. Amazon has now moved the release date to March 22nd, 2010 as the publisher Hal Leon...

Re: Neck Angle Question

Related to this post, what is the ideal height for the bridge? I notice on the attached picture of the '89 360, that the bridge is somewhat high to compensate for the neck with reverse pitch. I usually adjust the necks as flat and straight as I can get them on the three 360/12 Rickenbackers that I h...
