Re: Cursed humbuzz!
Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, when I checked under the bridge plate, I found that the ground wire was in full contact with the metal, so that's not the problem, apparently. I have tried just using an alligator clip and a wire to externally ground stuff, but there's no difference in the buzz. Th...

Cursed humbuzz!
I have a lovely Jetglow Rickenbacker model 620, and I love playing it, but it's ridiculously noisy. Of course, the single-coil pickups hum a little, as expected, but most of the annoying hum comes from the hardware and the strings. I've had the wiring inspected, and it's supposedly all done correctl...

My old 1996
Back in the 1970's, I had a Rickenbacker 1996. It had a Fireglow finish, and I had it for about three years before I traded it at Leo's Music, in Oakland, California, for a nice Lake Placid Blue Fender Jazzmaster. I was young and foolish, then, and I had modified the 1996 with a "stop-bar"...

Re: Van Ghent teardrop cover screws
I don't know how helpful this would be, but when I was missing a very old screw for the "classical" style tuners on my 1920's parlor guitar, I was able to replace it after looking in the phone book for suppliers of screws and fasteners. I went to a small cinder block building in a very ind...

Re: Reverse phase/reverse polarity?
Thanks for your answer. I'm not sure if I'm up to that delicate work, however. I'm also considering the use of a passive hum-cancelling coil mounted inside the guitar, or under the pickguard. That worked for me years ago when I had a Rickenbacker 325 (wish I still had it).

Re: Reverse phase/reverse polarity?
People do this with their 4001/3 basses all the time, BUT, the hum cancelling effect only works if both pickups are up full, and it won't work if you're playing in stereo. If the hum is that bad, you probably have other issues that should be addressed. I assumed that it would only work with both pi...

Reverse phase/reverse polarity?
I've just recently bought a beautiful Jetglow model 620, and I love the way it looks, sounds, and plays. The high-gain pickups are somewhat noisey, as expected, for single-coils. Other single-coil guitars that I have reverse the polarity of the pickup magnets between the two pickups so that when bot...
