Yeah, I'm starting to like the Kyser quite a bit the more I play with it on. Wish I'd bought it in the first place! I've got the black 12-string model capo so it has a nice, strong clamp to it - no bending strings or induced fret buzz at all. Works really well on my 360/12CW when I'm trying (but usu...

Nice photos, Jeffs....being a newbie here myself I thought I'd join in the fun and post a pic of my 340. Someday I'd like to be able to afford a nice vintage Rickenbacker like yours!

It was a Jim Dunlop capo - not sure of the exact model but I think it was one specifically made for use on electric guitars. I don't mean to unnecessarily malign this brand of capos...after all, I'm still not sure how it happened...it just seemed like the finish bonded fast to the capo's rear cushio...

Hi Ronan - I think the buy-it-now price of $850 is pretty fair for that guitar. Looks like it's been relatively well looked after for its age, and the Bigsby's a cool addition IMHO. While I can't comment on the performance of a Bigsby on a Rick, I have owned a 340 6-string for 10 years now and it's ...

Thanks Josh - I'll give the sand paper a try. The chip isn't quite through to the wood, but just the way the finish came off it left a very rough textured shallow hole that's pretty distracting when playing barre chords.

Radiohead has some particularly fine 6-string usage on OK Computer..."Airbag" and "Let Down" are stand-outs for me... Of course, anything by REM or the Smiths in their early days is gold, in my humble opinion...although I'm not entirely in-the-know in terms of their gear, and I'v...

As far as I've seen, neither the 21-fret nor the later 24-fret Ricks have a 21st fret marker. But with the company's tendency to churn out the occasional anomalous guitar I'd bet there's at least a couple out there with an extra dot or shark's tooth.

Capo question

I've read that cheaper guitar stands can damage the finish on Rickenbacker guitars. I'm now wondering if the same thing is true for certain capos? I've been using a capo on my 340 and the other day, when I removed it, a chunk of finish from the back of the neck came off with it! For whatever reason ...

Best wishes! Thanks to all involved. I've learned so much from this group - I hope it continues to be as welcoming, informative, and (Poshdemon, etc. aside!) civilized for another 3 to 30 janglin' years down the Rickenbacker Road.

Peace to all!
