Re: Hi all - been a while!

Hi Joey and Jim!

Just posted-up another one, a fine example of a '72 4001 in Mapleglo.

Re: Hi all - been a while!

Hi Guys!

Nice to hear you're both still active here.

I've just posted-up a 1977 MG 4002 in the marketplace.

Hi all - been a while!

It's been a while (years), since I've logged in. Great to see so many of the old guard still active as well as many new contributors! Admittedly, life has pulled me away from this hobby over the years and I think it is time to let some of my basses find new appreciative homes. I've started posting-u...

Re: Correct .0047 cap for a 1968 4001

Hi Colin - Thanks, it's been quite a while. That was much hunch as well, referring to a '68 harness on my old 4005. The lead wire to the horseshoe has also been replaced - assuming that's the thicker gauge (than neck pup) grey wire? If anyone has leads (ha) on sourcing such are appreciated - I'll po...

Correct .0047 cap for a 1968 4001

Hi all -

Expertise/opinions needed:

I'm working on fixing-up a '68 4001 with Larry Davis. The harness is missing the .0047 cap (the .047s being the stock navy blue). Would a navy blue .0047 be period-correct, or the smaller turquoise variety?

Thank you -

Re: 1968 Burgundyglo 4001 a risky adventure

Jason, I was next in line...nice try though!

Is there a link to a discussion on the '68 FG that sold in Toronto recently? Always stings to miss one in my own city.

Thanks-

Re: Project 1970 4001 JG Vancouver CL

Bass is in Larry Davis' hands after a couple weeks lost in USPS' ether.

Good news is the original finish will be retained, will attempt to stretch and re-adhere the original binding.

Electronics all original and all in working order.

I've got a pretty decent parts stash - including a low profile cover.

Re: Project 1970 4001 JG Vancouver CL

Larry Davis is reviewing the photos I sent him to see how realistic keeping the finish will be. One piece I could use some help on - I'm unfamiliar 70-71 4001's, is the pictured tall bridge pup cover period correct? All of my 72's have had low profile covers, though this taller cover matches that fo...

Re: Project 1970 4001 JG Vancouver CL

Yes, I'll definitely keep it original if possible color options were a contingency). A big factor there will be whether the holes for the tuners in the headstock were expanded to accommodate the replacements. Though I'm sure there may be a work-around to an entire re-fin. I'll get it in Larry Davis'...

Re: Project 1970 4001 JG Vancouver CL

yeah, the bass player in me shouts Azureglo, the architect; white. for those who aren't familiar with it, this chart is quite useful in tracking the finish offerings from the factory over the years. I can't comment if it is 100% accurate, but 'checks-out' with my collection past and present. http://...
