Re: Rickenbacker 480 on Goodwill Auctions

Yeah, Trogly talks about GW sometimes - I think he's right about things selling for more than they should on there because "word is out" and people think they are somehow getting this great deal just because it's a non-traditional market. It's a weird one, and I think your right. I will s...

Re: Rickenbacker 480 on Goodwill Auctions

That's what the bid is up to, as of now it's at $1400. With the way it seem every market is skyrocketing right now it wouldn't shock me if it ended near 4K. I watched an Epiphone Sg special go for $310 the other day and it sells consistently for $180 on Musicians Friend. It used to be good for alot ...

Rickenbacker 480 on Goodwill Auctions

I'm amazed at some of the things I see in Goodwill. I recently saw an old Martin and a silverburst Les Paul but this one really tempts me. Just for anyone who's interested.

Re: 330 Three way switch issue.

Funny enough, I fixed my 3 way this morning. It would barely hold neck/bridge positions. A little bending helped but cleaning the tabs and the switch button itself helped alot more. When you bend the tabs, you want the black (white in this one) button to sit square on them.

Re: Guitar porn thread

I wish Ric made one like this. I've had that wish a couple of times. Luckily, bolt-on necks make it possible by just building a new block of wood and transferring the goodies. 001.jpg More 430 and 2030 pix here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8j9xbb2ov22sojm/AAA6-Q4ZHCBTRN87t29D2Agja?dl=0 I have seen q...

Re: Guitar porn thread

I'm not sure what this thing is, it says it's made from Ric parts but the body falls somewhere between 350 and 620. I wish Ric made one like this.

Re: Guitar porn thread

Here is my 620, I LOVE the solid body Rics. I've had an eye out for a 480 for some time with no luck though. I like the knobs! What year is that guitar? Thanks, it's a 2016, I just didn't care for the silver inset knobs in it so I got the vintage style ones for it. I also replaced the Schaller tune...

Re: Guitar porn thread

Here's a 480 for ya ! That is gorgeous! That's my favorite Ric, ever! I don't wanna buy one without playing one first but they never pop up local but I may have to. If it helps, the 480 fretboards tend to be quite flat compared to other Rick models. And the body is the exact same size as the 4001 b...

Re: Tom Petty tribute band with a fake Ric.

Yea I usually really try not to judge, but I can't stand the Chinese knock-offs either. I can understand to a point a kid loving the design and not being able to afford it, and getting one until they can afford a real one. I can understand a struggling musician and a parent with kids, they're not ch...

Re: Tom Petty tribute band with a fake Ric.

Some people just can't afford 'em. It's easy in our little world here to forget that. I can completely understand that, I really can. I almost put that in my post, but I decided not to. I didn't mean to sound like I was taking a shot at him, it's just been a while since I've seen a fake Ric on a st...

Tom Petty tribute band with a fake Ric.

It isn't too often you see someone performing with a fake Ric, it's a Tom Petty tribute band called the Wildflowers. I would think a tribute to an icon like Tom Petty who is synonymous with Rickenbacker guitars would at least get a real Ric. Just thought I'd share.

Re: Pickguard material time-line

pg-008a.jpg pg1.jpg That's a good thing, IMO because otherwise there would be patches of the finish missing where it fused to the body paint. The factory used to use spacers on the gold pickguards to elevate them from the body slightly, to avoid that issue. The "vintage" way to prevent th...

Re: Pickguard material time-line

Awesome, I appreciate it guys. I haven't found alot of solid information, but I have found a few good threads in this forum as far as how opaque it was in certain eras. I've seen the occasional back painted white pickguard but I know Pickguardian offers those so it was probably one of them.
