Re: This does not look correct!
I think I was misunderstood. I was referring to the question "Will the newer 4003 rods fit in this bass?" - even if newer rods were functional in a pre-86 bass (and of course they are not), they are not better than the hairpins.

Re: This does not look correct!
Hairpins work just as well as compression rods. You just have to know the correct way to adjust them.

Re: Weak neck pickup
Here's a quick $6 fix that I learned from Ted Staberow: Order this neodymium magnet from K&J and just put it under the neck pickup. Should boost the output significantly.

That's not the bible. That is a list of cantillation notes, or Tropes.jps wrote:bassduke49 wrote:In the meantime, turn to page 32 or your bibles and join in praise and remembrance!

For years I have sworn by TI JF344's, but recently tried Ernie Ball flats and I absolutely love them.

Re: Who's still waiting on a 4003S?
Ooops... I stand corrected. It's been a long time since I've been in the market for a new bass. I'm more of a used/vintage/natural relic ;-) kinda bass buying guy. I remembered finding a gorgeous new MG 4003 for a friend for $1,500 which was at the time a great deal - I got the tip here on this foru...

Re: Rickenbacker 2015'FG
I would just lower the treble pickup until there's no volume drop when you switch between the pickups. I have always done that with all my 2-pickup guitars and basses.

Re: Who's still waiting on a 4003S?
They are starting to show up on the 'Bay... there's a gorgeous JG on there now, but for several hundred dollars more than POTR's price. :( Just saw another new JG for $1,799 BIN (no affil.) - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wonderful-Rickenbacker-4003S-Jetglo-Bass-Electric-Guitar-with-OHSC/161706408149http...

Where is that Jetglo 4003/5 - original bound body and maple board with sharkfin inlays? Remember when it was discussed here and then JH confirmed that it was made this way and not modded?

So how did they do it in the v63 and C64? And this 2010 one-off Ric Outlet bass (with 1/2" spacing)?

New pickguard shape? NO MORE DOUBLE-HUMP!
I'm looking at this pic of a new 4003S and another pic of a new MG in another forum, and it looks like RIC has returned to the mid-70's pickguard shape - sharper corners and no double-hump. I have been waiting for this for so many years, since they started to gradually correct little imperfections. ...
