If it's at a very, very low price, buy it & see for yourself.
If you don't bond with it, flip it.

Re: Looking for a 1960s Rose Morris hard case
I know, it surprised me too but there was apparently a small batch of Rose Morris 1993s shipped to Australia that all had the normal silver deluxe case (with RM type Rick badge), but with a red interior. I have found other guitars from the same batch (EB XXX) that have the same exact case. It's not...

Re: Looking for a 1960s Rose Morris hard case
My original '65 RM1993 has a deluxe case with red interior! Huh, that's a rare transitional case Collin, but I've never seen one with a '65 guitar. Does it have a badge? Do you think it's original to the guitar? I think it was in 1962 they phased out the gray "elephant skin" cases...

Re: Wow! Labella Deep Talkin' Flats on my 4001.
I've tried LaBella deep talking flats on P-basses a couple of times & I can't deal with the high tension.
They're way too tight & bowed the necks considerably.
I wouldn't dare try putting them on a Ric bass.
Anyone else here experience this?

Re: Restoring ',68 4001
Hey Kevin,
Yes, there were a couple of basses after late '68 that had factory HS pickups, but those are anomalies.
Did your '69 4000 have a factory HS pu?

Re: Restoring ',68 4001
I've only posted once, a few years ago,, I'm a novice with technical bass info.. However, trying restored my 68 Ricky bass, born August '68. I got it in 72 and the original horse shoe magnetic pick up I believe was replaced. Looking for that vintage part.. Does it exist out there anymore,? Thanks W...

Re: Restoring ',68 4001
Hi James, It's extremely unlikely that you'll find an original '68 (or any year for that matter) bass HS pickup. I would say the odds are 99.5% against it. The closest you'll get to it, is to convert a 6 pole lap steel pickup bobbin to a 4 pole. The bobbin would be either the black raised lip or the...

Wish I had a better pic of the catalog bass. From what I gather, not many '60sclasbas wrote:Now that's an interesting thought...it certainly looks like it could be!jps wrote: Could it be this one, possibly?
basses had Jetglo finishes. I think they started making more starting in '67/'68, but
still they're rare.

Re: September 1968 Licoriceglo 4001
Thanks Dirk! It does have it's share of small nicks and love bumps if you look closely, but nothing major. The back has some light buckle rash. The front of the body is very clean. The previous owner did take very good care of it! I did start a recording project in January, which has been halted by ...

September 1968 Licoriceglo 4001
This is a recent acquisition. It's a September '68 4001 in a scarce Jetglo finish. It's one of the last '60s horseshoe pickup equipped basses. The fretboard is darker than most...& darker in person than in the pics. I wonder if it was chosen to use for a Jetglo bass specifically to compliment th...
