David Crosby Dead At 81
I just got word that David Crosby passed today, ge 81. A great career with The Byrds, CSN and CSN&Y, CPR, and some memorable solo work is his legacy. Always outspoken to a fault, and at times, notoriously difficult, Crosby, licked a crippling drug habit and financial ruin, and came back strong, ...

Re: My R Tailpiece Broke
OMG, that's awful. How could they send something that ****** to you? I'm glad I got the Winfield tailpiece. I plan on replacing all the R tailpieces I have at some point. It's just another issue with Rickenbacker that they should fix. My hope is that John Hall's son will make positive changes at som...

Re: My R Tailpiece Broke
After much deliberation, I decided to just buy a stainless steel tailpiece from Winfield Vintage, for $90, and say goodbye to the R tailpiece on that guitar. It looks just like the one on the George Harrison 12. Why spend so much on another R tailpiece and perhaps have that one break down the road? ...

Re: New member/owner
Just make sure you like the way it plays. I'm sure you know to look over the guitar in great detail to ascertain its condition, and if you have any questions, take it to a qualified guitar tech who is used to working on Rickenbackers. That's very important. I took one of my 330-12 strings to two &qu...

Re: My R Tailpiece Broke
Ugh, that's not going to happen. My FireGlo 330-12 is probably fifteen years old. I forgot the exact year it was made. I may try to get John Hall on the phone and see if he'll cut me a discount at least on a new one. hahahahahah good one! Thanks Bob, I needed a laugh this morning :) Contrary to wha...

Re: My R Tailpiece Broke
Rickenbacker sees that R tailpiece as though they were guitar strings or tires on a car. An accepted aspect of owning a guitar or a car is eventually you have to get new strings or new tires...or a new R tailpiece. Why should those replacements be freebies? If your selector switch on a 20 year old ...

Thanks. They should send them out free of charge, due to all the broken ones out there.

My R Tailpiece Broke
I thought it would never happen to me, but it did; the R tailpiece on my 330-12 snapped off. I just noticed it.
I'll call Rickenbacker tomorrow. How do they handle this?

Re: Band Mate Buys A Rick 12 Copy...Why?
It was probably a poor choice on my part to have even posted this thread. He bought the Chinese copy, and that was his decision. My love of Rickenbacker guitars outweighed my judgement in this case.

Re: Band Mate Buys A Rick 12 Copy...Why?
Though I don't think his purchase was wise, I can understand it a little. Because seems like only earners in the top 10%, or people with serious guitar priorities, or guitar enthusiast spouses, can "afford" Rickenbackers, and other US made traditional guitars these days. I bought my 4003 ...

He has the financial means to afford a nice Rick, believe me. He took the cheap way out and got what he paid for.sloop_john_b wrote: ↑Tue May 10, 2022 9:09 am Sounds like your friend went with the practical and responsible purchase that best suited his needs and fiscal comfort level in the end.

Re: Band Mate Buys A Rick 12 Copy...Why?
No, I quit the band because he was hard to work with, we argued over everything, and I no longer agreed with the band's musical direction. In other words, it wasn't enjoyable anymore.
