I overheard a conversation at an electronics exhibition in London back in 1985. It was between two guys - one from Norway and one from Sweden. The quickest and easiest way for them to communicate was in English. It shows how us non-Nordic people think that there's just one language north-east of Sco...

I was in the British Merchant Navy during the very early sixties, and our ship called into Port Alberni, Vancouver Island in December 1963. A guitarist friend and I walked into the town to top up with fresh strings etc., and bumped into a guy in a music store (Holloway's). He said he was in a local ...

Hi Markus, I'm new to this group, but I've enjoyed the sounds of The Shadows for many years. In my opinion, the first thing to do is to listen. Listen very carefully to what is being achieved on record. That sounds very simple, and I don't wish to sound patronising. It's important, though. I first h...

Hi Guys. Maintaining a light grip on the tremelo arm does indeed impart some "unconscious" vibrato to the played note. However, be very careful just how lightly you maintain this element of control. It is very easy to unknowingly introduce unpleasant "warbling". I eased the threa...

hi all thanks for all the great input. thanks dane, i will research the ric 4004 bridge. i read the mod for the 4001-4003 bridge and even though i am very skilled at tinkering i feel its a lot of work to try and make a lousy item better. imho ric is a fine bass but it took them a lot of years to eve...

hi. thanks for the input. i have experimented with the tone settings and feel that having 2 tone controls really renders little variation. what i like is the bridge on full with the neck vol backed off a bit or vicevera. plus for me a fender and g&l player the control area is not user friendly. ...
