Re: Surf Jazz?

Cool! I was searching the 'net for info on surf jazz, thinking I'd like to start up an instrumental group with surf, jazz, and no wave influences (think Raybeats meet Lounge Lizards) and wanting more info on a genre I thought would be more, well, "findable".

Jam Rick sighting - please identify!!!

As the subject says, Weller's playing a Rick here I've never seen before. Can someone identify the model, please? [youtube]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DCgM4YF72SI&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0"></param><p...

Re: Amp recommendations for going stereo with my 4001

I wish I could go with a Bassman, but it just wasn't in the cards. I'm very happy with the Genz Benz, though - during last night's practice I cranked in the boost via the GB's foot switch and the bass solo sounded massive!

Re: Amp recommendations for going stereo with my 4001

Ken, you're killing me! :D As it turns out, I've built my rig. Voila! http://lh4.ggpht.com/_5_qYzCRUf_I/SoGPfgYY2vI/AAAAAAAAA00/qlTnpFHOz_M/s800/100_0326.JPG The box in the lower right-hand corner of my pedalboard is my homebuilt stereo splitter. Bridge pickup of my Rick 4001 gets routed through the...

Re: Amp recommendations for going stereo with my 4001

Thanks for the keyboard amp suggestion. My greatest concern would be how a guitar might sound through it. As far as guitar amps are concerned, I find myself leaning more towards the Bassman idea - essentially a thin-sounding bass amp that guitarists have found gives great tone to their instruments a...

Re: Amp recommendations for going stereo with my 4001

I'd considered simply going to a larger Valvetronix but was cautioned against doing so elsewhere in this Forum. I'm not sure why you were cautioned against that. I use an AD50VT (the 2x12 version) with fabulous results mixed in with my bass rig. Got it set to where I have just the right amount of d...

Amp recommendations for going stereo with my 4001

Hi all, I had originally posted this in Rickenbacker basses where many helpful folk suggested that I post here: I'm trying to sketch out a plan to go stereo with my 4001. My current gear is as follows: 1974 Rick 4001 Azureglo Ashdown ABM500 head Schroeder 1212L cab various effects "Retired"...

Re: Amp recommendations for going stereo with my 4001

Thanks for the Bassman suggestions. Unfortunately, they are heavy as all get-out (and relatively big, too). Supposedly they sound great. Isn't the Amp forum geared towards Rickenbacker amps specifically? I forgot to mention that I'm also considering the Roland Jazz Chorus series, specifically the JC...

Re: The Beatles ROCKBAND Game

I must admit, despite being a big fan, I was ho-hum about this game until this trailer belied a particular attention to detail I was not expecting. Note, for example, in the trailer how they show McCartney playing his Epiphone Casino whilst Lennon's holding down the low end on a Fender Bass VI for &...

Re: What amp are you plugging your Rick into?

My Rick 4001 currently plugs into an Ashdown ABM500 head and Schroeder 1212L cab. Incredibly loud and well-defined sound. I'm considering going stereo, so any suggestions would be appreciated!

FS: Janglebox

I bought a janglebox off of eBay about a month ago to try with my Rick 4001 bass but decided that this compressor must be better-suited for guitar (I prefer my BBE Opto-stomp). It's in absolutely great shape and comes complete with original box and manual for the price I paid for it: $187 shipped CO...
