Re: What was the best Rickenbacker model made?

The very last one I owned, the 360 V '64. Just a beautiful guitar with an unequalled finish.

Ah, here (the forum for a change) and there. In my usual spot, not the end of the earth but you can see it from here, Lew-bach, TX. Supplying musicians to Austin, TX for 50 years.
Oh, yeah windy and 52, but it's always windy.

Re: Is Ric Ever Going To Reproduce The 481?

Ah, Corvairs. I had a '65. Great car (ahem).
The heater ran right off the manifold. Other than tears and this burning sensation in your eyes, it was a charmer
I lost it in a swimming pool (long story). Drowning was the best think for it.

Now, we return you to the 481 debate...

I recall a 615 being one of the guitars lent/given to Zep during the early days by Rickenbacker. Jimmy is playing his Black Beauty here so this is at least before 1970. Must be one of his backups, and CSNY showed up for a jam?
It's from 1974. Right after CSN&Y played Wembley Stadium.

Re: "I Need You" 6-string or 12?

Aw, c'mon Peter, you know it was the 12. George Martin kept a listing on the instruments used in 3 songs from Help. It was in his book, which the title eludes me and is OOP. Besides the 12 and the volume pedal (which they did have in '65), the backing track also has George on a Spanish acoust...

Very true. Many of the Gretsch acoustics are under appreciated. Even some of the low end models sound pretty good.

Re: Non Ric acoustics

A few. Martin D-45, HD-28, D-35 and D-18. And buried well below some bed in the house a rather tattered Fender acoustic.

Re: Praise for Rick's Basic Product Line

Ric_Mel. I own four of the guitars by my nameless manufacturer. I call them my Holier than thou guitars. Furthermore, other than abusive quantities, I didn't diss the manufacturer itself. And BTW, I no longer own any Ricks. I was simply pointing out that one manufacturer has too many models (there a...

Re: Praise for Rick's Basic Product Line

Besides the quality, I greatly admire that RIC 'dances with who brung 'ya'. Those same models for decades. Simple and of the highest craftsmanship. It's all you need. There is a quality acoustic manufacturer who's guitars I enjoy, but they have far too many models. Something like 145 IIRC. A far cry...

Read about these. Curious how well they work. Electric tuner makes sense, as long as it doesn't suddenly get a mind of its own and spins out of control like a fishing reel with a 12 lb bass on the other end.

Re: Help identifying this guitar?

I'm not so sure that it's a RM...note the silver top knobs. In any case, there are not too many '66 RM's to compare it to. I tend to agree it's a '97, an S but not an RM. Splitting hairs. Here's another, but a '64, also with 345 written in the cavity (coincidence...I guess), but with an C or G, and...

Re: Help identifying this guitar?

Just asking, but I thought a RM 345 came with 3 pickups? BTW, besides appearing in excellent condition, it looks like a very well aged fireglo.
