Re: Punk Goes Metal

slightly off topic, but there were at least 2 bands which went from punk to full metal in the 80s: English Dogs and Discharge

Re: 7.4 Highgains?

by the way, the Seymour Duncan replacements have a slightly hotter neck pickup, but of course, the best pickups are the ones which get you the sound you want. :D

Re: Rebel music of today?

I wasn't really referring to a particular album, I think it doesn't matter so much if you cram the words, just how you cram them, rhyme them and keep them on the subject.

Re: Rebel music of today?

I think Crass did just fine, they weren't putting too many words too keep it from sounding musical. Although I guess after a while, I can see why someone would want something like that develop musically so the music can evolve. A.P.P.L.E. used too many words and political concepts, and I think that ...

Re: Metal that sounds like other metal

I don't know if I had seen that one before, but I've seen this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnvmGvY-Qsw I've heard several lesser known bands who have lots of songs which sound copied. I wonder what it would be like if they did videos like this for late '80s punk, you would have one song many...

Gaye Advert, bass player for the Adverts, sometimes used a Rick bass.

Re:

The neck higain on my '74 4001 measures 18.4K Something's wrong here. The bridge unit has 9k I'm not sure, maybe it's meant to be like that. I have a Musicmaster bass, into which I installed a much hotter neck pickup and individual volumes, and I find I still have to back off the treble pickup some.

Re: Some of these guys are mad!

I wasn't questioning Rickenbacker's quality, just some of the policies I am not really sure about. I saw somewhere that that guy who had the bass neck on the 360 body was also shut down, was it because he had the name plate on the neck? I really don't see otherwise, he had a legit Rickenbacker body ...

Re: New trend??? butchered 620!

How much time and cost would it really incur to stamp the back of the headstock or the floor of the control cavity with the company logo and a serial number before finishing? It would be pretty easy, but: if someone can really fake a Rick with all the details, which as far as I know no one has, the...

Re: Some of these guys are mad!

there was obviously some useless **** flung around on that thread, but: 1. Why would it be illegal to make a copy for your own use? 2. From what I understand, if I buy a real Rickenbacker, say with a broken neck, and put, say a no-name aftermarket strat neck on it, I do not put any nameplate, but I ...

Re: New trend??? butchered 620!

He only got 660$ for the 330 body and and neck. The only overly expensive parts are the truss rod covers, which makes me wonder if the Rickenbacker policy is a good idea, especially since I haven't seen any really convincing copies of Ricks, except for some of the copy basses from the 1970s. You can...

They did at least one concert in Ja, I've heard a few tracks, I don't know if anything other than audio is available though.

Re: This is my punk...or something

Supposedly Screwdriver were not nazis at the beginning, they were a punk band and they became nazis after the second album or something. ------------- Anyways, there were other Ca bands which experimented with surf type sounds, like the Dead Kennedys, and also Agression, which was also kind of metal...

Re: Finish Question

Actually I'm probably confusing the thinner/lacquer ratio with grades of sandpaper, never mind. I've done a little lacquering but I'm not very good or experienced.

Re: Finish Question

I meant the part about the different layers and sanding. A door or a roof, for example, is usually not painted the same way.
