Re: 1988 620/6 Neck Adjustment Failure
The way my luthier explained working with Rickenbacker truss rods is like this--you loosen the truss rods, then physically move the neck where you want it. Then, tighten the truss rods to hold it in place. If you're trying to move the neck just using the rods, it's going to put too much tension on ...

Re: The Burgundy Appreciation thread
Here’s the ‘72 330-12 I got off Collin last year. I’ve done a bridge, tail piece and knob swap to suit my preferences and logged A LOT of hours onto this guitar, my previous Ric 12 maybe got picked up once or twice a week for some play time, this one basically gets played on a daily basis, I love t...

They appear to be quite heavy, and may be high tension. I would consider trying some lower tension / lighter gauge strings.sirswithin wrote:These are the strings that came with the guitar, so I can't really tell. They are super smooth though.Just curious, what gauge / brand are those flatwounds?

Re: 480XC
It’s hard to draw a parallel between a guitar like this and almost anything else on the market, namely due to the construction: neck-through, solid-maple body. Conventional wisdom states that this is going to be a bright guitar straightaway, based on construction alone. Top it off with two scatterwo...

What you’re seeing these is a leather strap attached to the tuners, for hanging the guitar on the wall.redamber wrote: the shape of the headstock on the photos posted by Jangleism (which seems to extend past the nut) look distinctly odd.

Re: New Ric bass?
My only thought here was if there was a VP option for the 4004 bass, but I don't believe there was. Kind of makes sense that there wouldn't be - the 4004 itself was not a "vintage" instrument at the time and weren't bass Toasters a bit low in supply back in those days? I remember struggli...

Its not, but it has the same dual-bridge pickup scheme as the AC bass, so I figured it would work for you.cassius987 wrote:What sort of bass is that? It doesn't look like an AC.sloop_john_b wrote:Yes: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1786654 ... 0525763769

It is 30.5" scale - Ben's Instagram post introducing the models indicated this and every dealer is advertising it as such.

Re: Rickenbacker Baritone?
I thought that Rickenbacker did make one because I saw a video of George jones playing love bug with Johnny cash and the other guitarist had a Rickenbacker 360c63 with an accent vibrato and it was an octave lower than a regular guitar and that’s what made me think that Rickenbacker did produce a ba...

Re: The world's most unbearable guitar solo?
Whenever I'm feeling low and in need of a good laugh, I reach for my copy of this jumpin' 1951 R+B classic by Billy Love (wrongly credited on the label to Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats). The unforgettably enthusiastic guitarist is Calvin Newborn. Those with perfect pitch may find his solo cont...

Re: What's the Fascination with Old Instruments?
Both Alembic I had did so. But they were both 3-piece necks with no laminations in between them so thay may have contributed to the problem, possibly. If I were to get another Alembic (I am currently seeking donations to the cause) it will have more laminations in the neck. To be clear, does that m...
