Re: Looking for two old friends
Both of these are listed as "CI" which means collected item. This means someone added them from information they found online, usually ebay or some other website. This means that it is very unlikely that the owner is a member of this forum, so almost no chance of them reading this post. An...

Re: Rick-o-sound output brighter than standard?
Yeah, it's really meant for running to 2 different amps. I use it, with each pickup going to its own SansAmp RPM. I can then adjust those to get the sound I want for each before combining the signals in a mixer.

Re: Rick-o-sound output brighter than standard?
Your guess is totally correct. The Ric-O-Sound output separates the 2 pickups and so has only the loading of the tone & volume controls from a single pickup instead of 2. There's also some loading due to having 2 pickups there as well. The idea of combining them external to the guitar will only ...

Re: Variac or Step up transformer?
I can't comment on that particular unit, but I can probably tell you WAY more about Variacs than you ever wanted to know. A variac is a fairly simple device, it's just an "auto-transformer" with a variable tab. An auto-transformer only has one coil instead of separate input and output coil...

Re: NAMM 2024 what's new w RIC?
Rickenbacker didn't go, and apparently neither did a lot of the other big players such as Fender & Gibson. Word is it's just not necessary anymore...

Re: 4004cii/5
The bridge pickup is a Nordstrand, it's OK, but the Bartolini in the neck seems a bit muddy. It would be nice to see how the new RIC 5-string pickups sound...

Re: 4004cii/5
There could be a solution for my Mapleglo. JH gave me a new 4003S/5 pickup cover to see if it will adequately cover the 5 strings. I think it will work well. I need to find a guitar repairman brave enough to make the new pickup routes. I'd do it myself, I've routed several bodies, but from what I'v...

Re: 4004cii/5
There are only 6 listed in the Register, all made in 2004, mine included. I'm not sure if any were made in other years. As for only a handful being made, I have it on good authority that there were only 13 made. Maybe it was just destined to be an unlucky model...
