Re: Old to new bridge conversion
Do others who made the conversion note a difference in tail lift?
On my 4003AC, with the new design, there is no tail lift whatsoever. Now that I can see the difference, it's hard not to notice tail lift with the old design.

Old to new bridge conversion
I have a 4003S (fretless conversion) that I really love, but it has the old bridge/tailpiece which I like much less than the new design. Has anyone converted their old Ric to the new bridge/tailpiece? How was the outcome?

Re: Can a fretless be played without all the mwah/meow?
Just wondering if it can do double duty as a mwah bass and a more traditional sounding bass. Thanks. Absolutely. It's all in the technique. Fretless can be made to sound like really clean playing on a fretted bass. It can even clank a bit (against the wood) if you dig in, though that sound is defin...

Re: Sleeked out blackout maple board 4003s?
If it's a bit lighter than normal (<=9 lbs), it's likely to be walnut body, not maple.

Re: Thoughts on the single truss rod?
Just wondering what you all think about it, compared to the dual truss rod system. My 4003AC has it. Here's my experience: 1. Rod adjustment is easy and a little goes a long way. 2. The classic D string C3 (10th fret) dead spot is nowhere to be found - nor any other 3. Tone is clear and sustains fo...

Re: 4003s/5 has dull tone.
I have Sunbeams on my 4003S/5 and I think it sounds very bright and clangy, B string included. I have done nothing to the bass save adjust the neck to set the relief how I like it (pretty close to flat). May be worth a shot? In my experience, you have to address relief, action, pickup height, and ul...

Re: New trussrod question
I didn't realize everything was moved over to a single truss rod.
My 4003AC has it, and I have found it very easy to work with (and very good at what it does).

Re: Modified 67 RIC 360 to bass on Reverb
Gorgeous, though not sure I like what's going on with the bridge/tailpiece. (With no routing for the mute, should have just used a traditional rectangular bridge.)
How'd they manage to do the headstock without leaving marks from the original six tuners?

Re: Dead pickup on 4001FL - seeking advice
Thanks all - going with Tom Brantley for the rewind! what about the pickup selection found on Lennon's 325? ... Might be a nice time to consider the updated Rickenbacker bridge? I am finding conflicting info about how the 325 was wired. Can you elaborate? I am not a fan of the Hipshot bridge on ever...

Re: Dead pickup on 4001FL - seeking advice
Sounds like a lot of recommendations for Brantley, who I had never heard of before. Thank you all. I will definitely give them a look! I'm assuming that your luthier has desoldered the pup from the rest of the circuit, has checked it with a test meter and found that it's gone open circuit etc.) - th...

Dead pickup on 4001FL - seeking advice
My very modified 4001FL* has a dead Toaster pickup in the neck position. A reputable luthier assures me the coil has gone bad. I either need to have the pickup rewound or replace the pickup entirely. I would prefer to just rewind, but I do not know who can do that for me. I believe Lollar has stoppe...

Re: Mute screw thread size?
Thank you, Gary! This absolutely makes palm muting easier. I can do all 4 strings at once now.
