Re: Tom Petty tribute band with a fake Ric.
What is supposed to be most important is the "music," not the "gear." If I hear a tribute band, or "anyone" playing "She's a Woman In Love," my fave Heartbreakers' song, I would not care if the dude playing the melody was using a B.C. Rich B-ch. It's just gear...

It's the "aroma" from old gear, and old cases!

Re: Peter Buck Reverb interview
To get "200 people to come see you play on a Friday night," these days? Ha, that would be awesome! PBuck, one of my top-two favorite guitar players ever, side-by-side with JMarr. I never believed anyone would ever surpass Ace Frehley and Mick Ronson to me, but Peter and Johnny did it! ...w...

Re: Most Useful Rickenbacker Modification
I'm perplexed! I've been in enough Rickenbacker forums, and in them long enough, to believe it was against "Rick-Law" to change or modify a Rickenbacker. I'm shocked this topic has any legs...pleasantly shocked. Addendum: I see guitars as "tools," not "idols," therefore...

Re: The Rickenbacker Moment That Brought You Onboard
I had heard and love plenty of music from the 60s and 70s that had Rickenbackers in it. Most of my guitar heroes played Gibson Les Pauls, and I'm still crazy about all of them, and the Les Paul. However, it was Peter Buck and early REM that sent me over the top for Rickenbackers. I have never heard ...

Re: What about Peter Buck?
The best part about the entirety of this Peter Buck and "gear" topic is that like all albums recorded, musicians use whatever gear is available to get whatever sounds/tones that satisfy their "ears on that day." Then gear nuts like us, years later, question and dissect, than sali...

Re: R.E.M. Out of Time Reissue
Yes, everything is "opinion," and my opinion is that the entirety of "Reckoning" is greatness, not just 5 of the 10 songs, and "Document," mediocre or the worst of the IRS catalogue, hardly. "The Finest Worksong" is anthem'ish, just like "Begin the Begin,...

Re: R.E.M. Out of Time Reissue
I just clicked the link again, and reread the text... Stipe says he hates "nostalgia, hates the idea of looking in the rear view mirror," so what is the thing to do? Hey, let's do a Reissue and talk about it! As stated REM is my favorite band of all-time, and Stipe is my least favorite mem...

Re: Rickenbacker 330 Upgrades
Not to argue, but I wouldn't call putting a Bigsby on a Rickenbacker an "upgrade." On a Gibson 335, yes, it could be considered an added bonus, but on a Rickenbacker, I don't see it. To each his own, regardless, after all, they are only guitars, meaning they are only wood, plastic and a bi...
