Re: Rush Exit Stage Left Geddy Lee

That "Spirit of Radio" cover is awesome. Wanted to chime in with a tidbit that I've found valuable through the years. Probably 12-14 years ago in an interview with Tim C. (Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave) in Bass Player he said that he heard Geddy say (extreme paraphrasing) "Don'...

Re: ROS Bleed through problem

Well, I got in Dane's wonderfully built wire harnesses in and installed it in the 1973 4001. It gave me a great base level starting point as to why this guitar sounds so different than my 80's Autumnglow. I have boiled it down to just the physical makeup of the guitar, which is way different, the st...

Re: Rush Exit Stage Left Geddy Lee

I can see the meme now: (pic of Geddy Lee) HIGH ACTION DUE TO BADASS BRIDGE STILL DOES HIS JOB  That does not mean his fingers don't hurt at the end of the day! I saw in an interview that Geddy likes his action as low as he can get on his Fenders these days, but that is easy to do with a badas...

Re: Rush Exit Stage Left Geddy Lee

Yes, I also firmly believe that the action is key to getting that tone because my 83 Autumnglow 4001 has that capability and the strings have a rattle I cannot get with this 73 that I have sitting here. I have to dig harder on the 73 to get a relatively similar tone but it is not the same. Not as mu...

Re: "New, improved" Rotosounds?

This is good to know because I have on standby four sets to string up my new Fenders that are coming in in the next few months. I am going to put them to the test for sure.

Thanks for the research and info.

Re: Rush Exit Stage Left Geddy Lee

Excellent! Thank you so much! I cannot wait to install and hear the differences this will make to my overall tone and solve the mystery of why this bass sounds so much different than my other rics. I am sure it will be quiet as a mouse also. I have disected this bass and my other one reading resista...

Those are beautiful! Here is my bass garden. The 1973 4001 Jetglow with the checkerboard binding on the right is the newest addition. That ES1275 Doubleneck on the left just snuck in there. It wants to be a bass I guess.

Re: Rush Exit Stage Left Geddy Lee

Todd....That was awesome! You guys are some twisted, hard core RUSH fans. With RUSH not doing anymore big tours, it's a perfect time to ramp up a project like this. Yeah that was kinda what we figured; however, we had formed this project way in advance to Rush ever deciding not to do that anymore. ...

Re: ROS Bleed through problem

Well I have solved the problem with the bleed through on the ric-o-sound. The switch on the standard jack was slammed shut shorting everything out as that is kind of what I suspected the reason I checked that first. So I bent the tab gently back and the problem went away. Who is to say that when I s...

Re: "New, improved" Rotosounds?

I think Geddy Lee of all people said he used to boil his strings in the old days to save money. I bet he is a tight wad even today when it comes to things.

Re: ROS Bleed through problem

Yes Dan That is what I plan to do! Absolutely! I may even go as far as troubleshooting it and fixing it so the next owner can reinstall it and it work 100%.

Thanks for the peer check!

Re: ROS Bleed through problem

Yes that sounds fantastic! Your Ebay item ends in a day so I did not know if you are going to relist it or what? I have a 1973 4001 Jetglow that needs its wiring dealt with. I want the tone mod installed. If I can hit buy it now next week I will do it then. Just send me a link or renew this listing ...
