I'm under the impression that if you want to do it as 'correct' as possible then you're looking at a full refin as the frets go in before finish. I assume they have the same self-disassembling issues that have killed so many of the wavy version? Love the feel of them when they are in good working order, but so many horror stories.

If the V1 wasn't causing issues for you before the lift, I would stick with that before looking to fix a not broken thing. the v2 is fine and good but 'works' a lot different... kind of 'incorrect' to put it on a vintage reissue imho...like putting an emg in a 60's lespaul.

I've installed and heard this, not exactly the same, but still lots of clarity for a humbucker, and ric'ish. for what it's worth the owner of that bass went from stock, to the bardins, then to stock with a nord, and then (and finally) back to the bardens.

I nearly flinched on a Club trade recently.... in the end decided I just love my RIC's too much right now, and I figure if I really need a cheap hofner 'fix', I'll pick up a contemporary or ignition and see what the fuss was about first.... cheaper than an ebay horseshoe pickup on a good day.
