Re: Thinking of Modifying Your Gretsch 5120

I can definitely attest to how great the 5120 is, and how FUN it is to modify it! Mine gets brought out to every other gig (just because I like to rotate a few of them) and last time I played it, I put it down after the first set until a bunch of girls in the front row were yelling at me to "pi...

Re: Bridging The Gap

This bit of kit has many fans and endorsements, including Brian Setzer himself. Money well-spent, IMO. To be fair, all we know for sure is that Brian BOUGHT some Tru-Arc bridges. I've never seen him using one. He played the Montreal Jazz festival after having received his bridges... But the stock t...

Re: Upgraded my 5120 with TVJones TV Classics!

Two gigs last week with this guitar all night (usually I switch it up halfway through just for fun, but I kept the Gretsch all night).

One more tomorrow, one next Friday (plenty of pics should arise) and a benefit gig on the Tuesday after that!

Upgraded my 5120 with TVJones TV Classics!

About a year and a half ago, I bought the budget Gretsch, the 5120. I liked it a lot, the one thing that I found weird was that the pickups sounded more like Gibson styled pickups than Gretsch, but it didn't bother me much, Being a fan of that thick humbucker sound, but knew that someday I would upg...

Re: Happy 21st Birthday to Nick Cormier

Hey Nick, Have a great birthday mate. I don't how you find the time for all the stuff you do. I must say it would be nice to be young again (and know what I know today of course). Enjoy. I am looking forward to the release of your CD. Hopefully that will be soon? Not likely, we're SLOW at recording...

Hahahah! Thanks! Yes, a wild raging birthday is ahead of me! First, I'm gonna prepare a presentation on Technetium in Nuclear Medicine, then I'm gonna push the party into overdrive by preparing for an instrumental analysis exam! Party on Wayne! Party on Garth! Tomorrow Night, I've got a date at a st...

Medium, medium-rare at most.

In reality, when I think of rare, I think of an instrument that is part of a short run, if there's only 1, then it's a one-off. In my skewed mind anyways... haha

The mids are between the highs and the lows, though some amps don't have mid knobs, so I understand your confusion

Re: Drop "D" tuner for 4003

Steve: Most good tuners have a function for a single or double flatted tuning which will certainly allow for drop D. Boss is one manufacturer that does. I hope I have understood your question correctly. A Drop D tuner goes on your bass. You replace your tuner for your low E string with the Drop D t...

The most anticipated gig of the year!

The parents are coming home from Kuwait on the 19th, and that very night, we're playing at a chill little bar downtown, to celebrate in style! On top of that, the gig will mostly be filmed, because we're appearing in a documentary a bout the blues, and how it links our generation to past generations...

Re: Eric Clapton

At least one Louisiana radio plays the softer, acoustic version of "Layla" at least once a week, but when I first heard the harder-edged, jammed out original version of "Layla" by The Dominoes, I'm blown away at what an amazing riff is played. To me, the highlight of the whole a...
