Re: The Turtles (1966)

You Baby. Key of B? Wouldn't it be easier to play in C? Did the Turtles tune down?

Re: Rick's and Fender hot rod deluxe

I have used a HRD successfully at gigs. It's nice and loud and sounds even better with an extra 1-12 cab. It gives a better bottom end.

Re: Adjusting the 12 saddle bridge

Thanks for the good ideas. The 12 pack was a great idea but it took 2 days to adjust the bridge.

Adjusting the 12 saddle bridge

Is there an easy way or short cut to adjusting each saddle on this bridge? Here's my problem: When adjusting the octave G string, the screw turns but the saddle doesn't appear to move, so my intonation is not changing. Is there any way to adjust this thing without removing the neighboring strings? W...

Re: Janglebox!!!

I used the JB-1 at an outdoor gig last Saturday. It was just dial it up, plug in and play. No fuss, no muss. Got a lot of compiments on how I "nailed that Byrds sound," and "that Rick gives me goose bumps."

Thanks Steve.

Re: Janglebox!!!

I too love the Jbox. I note that it seems to boost the toasters more than the hi gains. Has anybody noticed anything similar?

Re: My 12 String On Jazz Chorus

I saw McGuinn use one in Chicago several years back. It's a great amp for that 60's Byrds tone.

Re: Rare picture of Elvis with a Rickenbacker...

Ya know he used to play an Epi Riviera or Casino 12er way back when. It's not too much of a stretch for him to use a 12 string.

Re: Half-Time Who

IMHO, the best thing about the show was that it was live, mistakes and offkey harmonies and all, but I'll take that anytime over singing to canned background trax. The show wasn't perfect by any means, but the boys left it all on the stage, as it should be. Oh yeah, I thought it was really cool that...

Re: Good Grief, Charlie Brown! Rick content!

The singer's guitar is a Burns-Baldwin, probably from '67-'68. They were featured in a series of articles in Vintage Guitar within the last 4-5 months. For you 12-ers, take a look for the Burns Double Six. I've seen one in a Zombies vid and Elvis was pictured with one.

Re: Compressors

I've used the Boss on gigs with good results. You can set it and forget it. It's easy, convenient and fits in my (crummy) pedal board. The audience recognizes "that Byrds sound." I find that I like the JB for home or studio playing. The JB works better with toasters, IMHO, with a good gain ...

You are right, JimK. Maybe one of us should make the next new Rick music.

Re: CNN: Sweet and Hoffs

I saw Sid and Suzy at the Old Town School in Chicago in September. It was a great show. They encouraged questions from the audience, so there was a lot of back and forth. It was like playin' in the living room, doin' covers with your friends. They talked about having their gear stolen in NYC the nig...
