4003S -Blackstar - Refret and Bridge V2

So, Ive talked about it for a few years now and always wanted to get my Blackstar refretted - the wear was pretty severe - but I wanted to wait until I had decided upon a replacement bridge as it was suffering from a reasonable bit of tail lift. Original Bridge Blackstar bridge.jpg Tail lift Blackst...

Re: Matamp Green Bass 200 custom head

Pre-In, I’d guess, is if you were using the power amp only, like if you’re linking from another head and running multiple cabinets. The pots just might be dirty, have you tried De-Oxit? I bet this thing sounds great. The pots are definitely dirty and could do with a clean. I need to pick up some pr...

Re: Matamp Green Bass 200 custom head

I do not know!

There were no instructions or hints as to how it worked so we had to figure it all out. We thought it was 2 channel originally but worked out pretty quickly thats not how it should be used.

I`m hoping once i speak to Matamp they can fill in all the blanks I have.

Matamp Green Bass 200 custom head

Thought some of you might find this interesting. I picked up the Matamp Green Bass 200 shown in the picture below the other week from a friend who had it sitting around in his studio (Theres more story behind how he came to own it). Its a custom build and appears to be fairly old (circa 90's maybe?)...

Re: Introducing the Al Cisneros Signature 4003S

I've been playing around with a cheap bass for the past couple of weeks. It's a GJazz from Glarry. Amazingly good for the price, but it's important to stress "for the price." One of my bands has a possible performance coming up, so I left the GJazz at home yesterday and took my 4003AC to ...

Re: Rickenbacker bass moving forward

The word is that it will become the new standard bridge, probably when the stock of old ones runs out. But who knows for sure? Here's the best picture I've seen so far... 20190703_164612.jpg One thing i noticed on this bridge when i removed strings to take off the pickup covers was that the little ...

Re: Introducing the Al Cisneros Signature 4003S

Ok. Finally managed to get home from offshore yesterday (from Alabama, sailed to St Johns in Canada, flights to Toronto, to London, to Edinburgh then drive to Aberdeen.....) and got my hands on the bass. I love it. Its beautiful. The pictures just dont do it justice. I wasnt totally sold on the gree...

Re: Recommend a Luthier in the UK

Completely chickened out getting a re-fret done. Bought a 4003AC instead. Hah. Still plan to take my Blackstar to Jimmy in Glasgow for a chat the next time im in the area and see what he recommends/advises on anything I can do to improve its playability without wrecking the original components. Than...

Re: Introducing the Al Cisneros Signature 4003S

I own one that I bought from Wildwood a while back at a really nice price. I adore it. It has gotten many "that's your coolest bass" comments from various musical collaborators and whenever I don't bring it to a gig, its absence is often bemoaned. That tells me something. I love that it s...

Re: Introducing the Al Cisneros Signature 4003S

Peter. I like the look of the upgrades, particularly the bridge, and im looking for a new Rickenbacker with the new bridge. The 4003AC is looking quite sweet. Hopefully someone can help out.

Im intrigued to know how they sound with the twin treble pickups (without effects). I have...

Re: Recommend a Luthier in the UK

If you haven’t already got this sorted I can recommend a couple of guys in Scotland. Jim (as mentioned above) seems a decent bet for me so far, but who would you recommend? Keep in mind im up in Aberdeen. I'll be looking to get work done in the summer i reckon, once my first few offshore trips are ...

Re: Recommend a Luthier in the UK

Thanks Scotty.

Had a look at their website and fb pages (as you do). Looks pretty good and is a hell of a lot closer to Aberdeen than most places ive seen so far.

I'll most likely give them a shout and visit to see what they have to say about what needs done.
