The old 1 inch or 1/2 inch spacing. Has anybody done a back to back comparison to any real differences? I've read some which suggest it's pretty much cosmetic (I personally prefer it), or is there a tonal difference? I'm aware it was moved for structural reasons as well at the time. Just curious here, but what Fender did you go too? Went for a Rumble 500 and 115 cab. Have since added the 40 as a practice/small gig amp. They are really super sounding IMHO, much warmer than my old rig. I gigged the 4001 with them a while back, and it was excellent. Change of room the other week ...

Back to my 4001 search.....!

One for the new 4003S owners here. I assume the pickups in the new 4003S' are the same as in the current 4003...but besides the body shape, does the bass sound exactly the same as a new 4003? Only ask as I've often read that even changes in wood can affect the tone. Quite tempted with the looks......
