Re: Tony Sheridan
I just found this online; http://www.examiner.com/article/tony-sheridan-who-sang-with-beatles-germany-dead-at-72 I the course of two and a half weeks, we've lost Reg Presley, Rick Huxley, Shadow Morton and now Tony, truly awful. Apart from his work with The Beatles, Tony did a killer version of &quo...

Re: Another gone
This is a big one for me too Roy. I have pretty much everything The Troggs put out between 1966-72. I had the good fortune of seeing then some years ago and they were great fun live. They didn't go cabaret either, like a lot of their contemporaries.

Re: BBC Doc about The Casbah
I'm lucky enough to have some of the Star Club records, Ian and The Zodiacs, Bobby Patrick's Big Six, Kingsize Taylor and The Dominos, and the live LP The Searchers made in Hamburg. Either by design or luck they did catch the groups in their natural habitat and you do get some idea of the energy the...

Re: Groovy Beatles pictures
Certain songs or albums will click (or not click) with people for different reasons. For me, the best Beatles LP's are With The Beatles, Revolver and The White Album. There's lots of experimentation and creativity on those albums which I really dig.

Re: BBC Doc about The Casbah
I know Bill Harry has a theory that the London record producers really tried to "clean up" a lot of the early Merseybeat bands and ended up taking the fire out of their records. Johnny Gustafson has said that The Big Three's producer at Decca (who I believe was Peter Sullivan) simply could...

BBC Doc about The Casbah
This will only be up for a few more days. It's a 2 part documentary about The Casbah, the club that Pete Best's mother ran in Liverpool, and it's presented by Pete himself. The Searchers and The Big Three are mentioned, I very much enjoyed it.

Indeed, very nice clip of Silver. Amazing how good they were live at that point.

Jon Lord
Jon Lord passed away earlier this week. While the media will dwell on his stint in Deep Purple, I actually prefer his work with The Artwoods. There is a nice appreciation here; http://anorakthing.blogspot.com/ There is also a vague Searchers connection. Roundabout was a group that Chris Curtis had p...

Re: Whatever Happened to Bobbie Gentry?
And speaking of Bobbie, I stumbled on to this on another music borad, her's both her and The Hollies doing "Lousiana Man". This must have been taped just before Graham left.

Re: Whatever Happened to Bobbie Gentry?
She was involved in a movie based on "Ode To Billy Joe" which came out if I remember correctly in the mid 1980's. Since then she has retired and is completely out of the music business now.

Thanks for the Peter Green links, I have long been a fan of his.
