Re: Zep and Transonics

I just want to add that on a visit to the Rickenbacker showroom sometime in the late sixties, I had an opportunity to try out the new Transonics. I was very impressed at how loud they were; back in the day that was important. I wasn't sure how they'd fit into my budget but they sure were the cat's p...

Re: Help! Reverb Issue With Rick Amp TR-25

The reverb driver may be bad. Alot of those transistors are discontinued but I have one if you're sure yours is bad.

Best of luck.

Re: Model 4001 Wiring Landmarks

Did anyone make note of the catalog number of the Columbia flexlife? It's printed right on the grey jacket and should be a four digit number beginning with 13__. Thanks.

Re: Rickenbacker EK-O-Tone A-11 (what is this?)

I usually just slap in a new can of Starkist. Gives ya that real bubbly deep sea echo among other benifits. If your tour bus happens to strand you between Baker and Barstow, you can always make a cactus and tuna sandwich. Has anyone tried to get a Starkist endorsement? Might be worth looking into.

Never thought of the bowtie as an upgrade. It'll be curious to hear how yours works out!

Re: 325 C58 Question

They won't stay in tune with slinky strings. 11's at a minimum. I use 13 flats for a really thick sound. Not for everybody. If you're a shredder, stick with the Les Paul, although a Rick 230 is a competitive instrument you might want to try.

Yeah, two fifteens. 35-40 watts is typical. I have those tweeters around somewhere but you know how I am, I have no idea when I'll come across them.

Re: TR120B Report

Hi Davide-- Yes you certainly can attach an extension cab, 4 ohms or higher. I forget though if it cuts out the internal speaker. No, well wait, okay, I'm not sure so give it a try and let me know. Thanks. Hey, Kenny-- Great post! More forumites should share their Rick amp experiences. As we know, t...

Re: TR120B Report

Kenny (or to whom),

I do have an RB75 for sale that is not working (power amp problems). It's not in the best cosmetic shape either, but it's all there except the handle. $100 as is. I never seem to get around to my own projects.

Re: Symfonia Grand amp

Hi guys, yeah, the amp is super rare. Never had one in the shop but I'm assuming it's a single 6V6? I once had a two pickup Contello so at this point nothing (or everything) surprises me. That shaded blue isn't blueburst, it's softer. I asked F.C. about it back in '68. He called it "natural gra...

Re: Capri Reissue

That was excellent Paul. I don't think it's ever been said better. We all hafta stop and acknowledge that if RIC was managed like Guild and Gretsch, Rickenbackers would be made in Indonesia, happy-go-luckily distributed by the freewheeling irrepressible folks at Fender. This is the perfect time of y...

Re: Transonic Review / Retrospect

John and I have talked about a Transonic support system of some kind, including repro this & that and service for existing amps. Many OEM items like corners, cloth and other cosmetics might be troublesome. Without scads of customers, I can see the endeavor deteriorate into a nonprofit organizati...
