early 1965 360-12 with no checkerboard binding on back? Black line instead?
Greetings - I have in my possession a new-style January 1965 360-12 (under the pickguard, on the inside of the back, it says 360-12-G), and to my surprise the back has a black line around the border instead of a checkerboard binding. The pots are dated Dec. 64. It's got all the 360 characteristics; ...

what RIC 12 is Steve Howe playing? pic
I've squinted and enlarged the photo, and I can't tell.
I can't tell if the inlays go entirely across the fretboard, or are post 73 partial inlays.
In any case, can you tell me - or guess - what year and model this is?
thanks much
Richard

screw size - vintage 4001 "Grover" 4 mounting screws ?
. Greetings - On a vintage 4001 that uses "wavy Grover" tuners, what size / type of screw is used to mount the tuner? I'm looking at one right now; I've measured it as 7/16" long, and 1/16" wide. Pan head. Phillips. Chrome. Does that sound about right? My measurements involved so...

. Greetings guys - I really appreciate all the cool ideas that have been proposed. An education for me. And....in the interest of comity (had to look that one up) I'll assume everybody knows we are all just good guys just trying to play and fix guitars. So all posts should reflect that. thanks again...

Re: 2 little holes in 360, what to do about them? Cosmetic.
Have a plate made with whatever you want on it and screw it on until such time you want to refinish the guitar. Well, it's an interesting idea (thanks for that, Jeffrey), and I could do that. However, if there is a way, I'm more inclined to somehow plug the holes and 'refinish' the little areas. If...

Re: 2 little holes in 360, what to do about them? Cosmetic.
Can you post a photo showing their relationship to the bridge and tailpiece? Here are a couple new photos. One shows where they are (right between the R and the bridge....about 1" away from each). The other shows a close-up of the larger hole. As you can see, the hole itself is about 2mm wide,...

2 little holes in 360, what to do about them? Cosmetic.....
. Greetings - I've got a 360, and at some point someone installed something (a bridge? who knows) behind the current bridge. There are 2 little holes in the top of the body, as you can see in the photos. They are stable, and are so small you don't really see them....until you look right at them, and...

Re: fretboard coming off 4001, how to glue back down?
. Greetings guys - thanks for your advice. Jason, I liked your 'mix your own glue' idea....however, I chickened out on that bold thought. I think it just shows that you are a cleverer man than I am. Jeffrey, I went with the Titebond you suggested. I used an exacto knife to insert the glue into the g...

fretboard coming off 4001, how to glue back down?
. Greetings - My 4001 sat with no strings on it for a while, and now I find that the fretboard has separated a bit. From the nut to just beyond the first fret, you can now insert a business card into the small gap. All I've done so far is to completely loosen the truss rod nuts to lessen the tension...

correct string height on old 4001 ?
. Greetings - I'm adjusting my '73 4001, and am wondering about the 'right' string height. I know one answer is 'to your preference', but I'm also wondering if there is a Rickenbacker spec . Martin guitars have published specs on string height / saddle height for their acoustics. I'm wondering if RI...

Re: need advice: fix or sell my '73 4001
Replacement rods aren't really that expensive, so....I would cut the nuts off with a small diameter cutting wheel on my Dremmel. Then tap them through from the body end, and replace them. The fact that the neck is straight and the action is good means it may stay that way for a very long time. This...

Here is a photo of the nuts. Click on the photo, it 'rights' itself if you do that.
