Re: Possible 12 string design upgrades

To those who has intonation problems on 12strings - I wonder how big is intonation deviation on your guitars? On my 370/12 intonation isn't absolutely perfect but stays within 2 or 3 cents on the part of the neck near the body, and less on the rest of the neck (and to me that's definetly not a probl...

Re: Collectors vs. Players

I am a player and definitely not a collector. And from my experience when you play a guitar it gets damaged no matter how hard you try avoid it, even if you play at home or in studio. If you gig, accidents happen much more often, and I'm not even careless, I try to keep my guitars in cases when I'm ...

Re: Weirdest punk/alternative band?

The Residents are the weirdest band ever to me. They are so weird I wouldn't call them alternative, or anything for that matter.
Anyway they are great :)

Origins of stock 300series 3 pickup wiring?

Recently I bought my first and only Ric, a '98 370/12 with Hi-Gains. Sound of bridge pickup was everything I hoped for, but hard as I tried I just couldn't like mid+neck and all-on sounds. Then after a couple of weeks I gave up and had my guitar modded by a friend, and he put another switch in (mid,...

I think it was about this radio special:

but I just can't find it on the official Beatles website.

Re: Vote: Who's Your Second Favorite Liverpool Band?

I grew up listening to various 'beatles' reel-to-reel tapes. Later it turned out there were lots of bands besides beatles on those tapes, mostly merseybeat with an occasional monkees or elvis song thrown in. When I grew up I started to look for those recordings. There was this great band with a girl...

Re: Ric Prices in the UK

Year is quite a long time really. When I was shopping for a 300 series 12-string in UK this april, you could find new 330/12 for 1200. Looks like prices have grown quite a bit since then. And pound rose too.

Regarding 340 could it be that prices were higher because 340s are no longer made?

Re: Review on what I have so far

To me the problem with Capitol boxes was very agressive use of limiters. They weren't promoted as remasters, but there was extreme compression all over the set, making it virtually unlistenable to me. The new mono box sounds much much better. No comparison really.

Re: JMI Tone Bender

Wow, this JMI reissue wold be great for early Zep stuff!

When I searched for that mid-60s fuzz, I too tried a fuzzface, and it didn't have the sound, but maestro fuzztone reissue did.

Re: It Might Get Loud

I saw the movie yesterday. It's quite fun and interesting to watch, though afterwards I couldn't help but feel that it's a missed opportunity. Most of the movie is one of those three reflecting about his past, visiting a memorable place or two. It's kind of bio, but instead of usual names and dates ...

Re: Johnny Marr on his Rickenbackers

Oh, I didn't know Manzanera played Ric! Tried to google it, but the only bit of info I could find is from official Ric forum : "Phil Manzanera hired a 330 12 FG to use on the Roxy Music album Country Life in 1974. It is all over the record and he uses it in quite an unorthodox way -playing dirt...

"Finally, as is common with today’s music, overall limiting - to increase the volume level of the CD - has been used, but on the stereo versions only."

Wow. No limiting on mono! :D

How do you tune your 12-string?

I know this sounds kinda silly, but anyway, how do you tune your 12-string? When I use a digital tuner (mostly software), I always end up with a guitar that is tuned up too precisely. There's just not enough of this great natural chorus, almost none of it really. This is especially evident on the fi...
