Re: It was the best of concerts...it was the worst of concerts.

Best - Too many great ones to choose. Zep, Zappa, Alan Stivell, Grateful Dead, Glass Harp, among others.. Worst - This one is easy. I saw the Police on their final tour in Cincy 83 I believe. They raced through each song, no jams, their sound was terrible. Really deflated my great love of the band.

Re: Favorite Non Harrison/McGuinn 12 String Licks

No particular instrumental comes to mind, but for me, the best would surely include something from Leo Kottke..
maybe .. Driving of the Year Nail, Vaseline Machine Gun, etc... going by memory here...
Also, does Phil Keaggy ever play a 12 string? I bet there would be some gems from him if he does..

Re: What Percentage Actually READ Music?

A timely topic for me. I am spending time learning to read music and chord charts this summer. I have always played by ear, but decided that I wanted to deepen my understanding by learning theory, sight reading, etc. So far so good, but still have a massively long way to go..I may never need it, but...

Re: "Cute, but they're only for playing rhythm" ...

Actually, I want one badly because I am almost exclusively a rhythm player, when playing a guitar at all. They are perfect for the stretch one needs to do Chuck Berry chords. I have a full scale John Lennon model, but would like the short one even more. All well, someday.....Also, it seems to me tha...

Re: Besides Your Ric....

Hmm.. Hope we are allowed to post competitor's stuff here. So, I also have a Stingray, Bongo, cheap Beatles bass copy from Rogue(which plays and sounds great, btw..)
My Ric doesn't go to gigs.. Too valuable to me..

Re: A Moment In Time With John Cipollina

I saw QMS way back then too. Simply fantastic.. I think they were with Wishbone Ash, in what I think was their first American tour IIRC.. A long time ago now...
