Re: Is it happening? A new 4005?!
I’d love to hear one of these through a modern rig. I tried the XC through my buddy’s Darkglass before and if that is any indication then the full scale 4005 is going to sound amazing. That pickup spread, ROS and the blend knob are going to provide huge total possibilities. I can’t play a 34” due to...

4005xc through the tones
I finally managed a video about the sounds of the 4005XC. Sorry it took so long…broke my right index last year. Also to be honest this thing made me throw the rule book out the window to refine my rig, my playing and everything. Love the sound of this thing. No joke, this replaced my guitars and I p...

Re: Advice on best models + modification question
I finally did a dedicated demo of the out of phase pickups. Not everyone’s cup of tea because it’s coffee. I have a dry out which you hear in the beginning then I layer the amp modeling on top with an a+b switch & volume pedal. I go through the phase sweep demo at the beginning. During the jam I...

New Rickenbacker Tips Series
I guess I’ve started a Rickenbacker tips series! I already have a 30 minute episode but I’m cutting it up in chunks and will make bespoke tunes for each section. I didn’t want to be the usual talking head. It’s a work in progress so any suggestions are welcome. I did this all today…yeah I know, I kn...

Re: 4005XC
Well, I have some lyrics and thus a new video where I pushed the bass and background stuff up a bit to thicken it up. The song is about PSA airlines and USAir merger of 1988. PSA was the blueprint for Southwest and their planes featured bright orange livery emblazoned with a smile. This is dedicated...

Re: 4005XC
Embroiled with studio construction but I finally managed a recording using the 4005XC as the “backing band”. Spontaneous acoustic recording started the whole thing so the drums were live too. For the Ric Bass “backing band” It highlights the piezo mod at the beginning then I roll in with the dirty b...

That’s great! I only have checkers on the outside… Nice move going along the diagonal. It has a harlequin/tuxedo vibe. Did you paint it or is that contact paper?

Re: Advice on best models + modification question
I do out of phase on purpose! I run most of my guitars with some form of out of phase. Really fun univibe effect when they are on a separate volume…which is why I need to do some repairs. It’s like having a sweep eq on an otherwise stock 2 pickup blend knob equipped Ric too.

Re: Advice on best models + modification question
Thanks, Pm sent! I found your mid pickup 5th knob volume mod some years back and run it out of phase on my 350. My unending goal is a 3 pickup guitar that does as much as it can quickly and easily without looking at it. Rotaries, banks of switches that risk accidental mutes and 5 ways need not apply...

Re: If I Could Change One Thing About My Rickenbacker ...
I’ll happily take those 24’s Peter, I need those frets :D! I think the original 24 fret 350 Liverpool is the best lead guitar semi hollow out there. It’s proportioned perfectly over any 24, like a mix of old school and new needs. For a slide player every other guitar is just in your way. Greedy me w...

YouTube will not link to my SoundCloud so I’ll add it here…it’s an improv live track track I did ten years ago. Drums, vox, piezo bass and one mic. Song came outta nowhere and surprised us all at the time.

Re: Stealth Piezo Mod for semi hollows 325/330/4005
Here’s a quick clip of my 370WB “Il Mostro” with the piezo. https://youtu.be/5L5jOuW_wq8 Short history, this was my main since ‘94 then I switched to a modded 350 a few years back. By ‘97 I had 3 HB1’s MV, MT, 2 coil faders and mid volume. Thought I preferred the HB mode. Did some alterations to add...

Re: 1958 Combo 850 tribute.
https://imgur.com/a/ZVloOBC Finally snuck in some guitar repair time…been putting this off. I have to sand the 850 down to bare wood. Primer was no good. I will clean up the carve where it was already bugging me & respray in ‘58 vette royal turquoise. Need to snag a combo bridge baseplate, get o...

Re: 4005XC
Before they made the XC I was going to do a bari 6 conversion on a 330 but a fretless might finally get me over the fear of building a neck. I figured out how to use my thumb and approximate the stand up bass sound. Get that string buzzz goin. Here’s a song of some sort with the piezo run through my...
