Re: Reproduction Pre-1974 Aluminum Tailpiece / Bridge
This would be more of a casting job rather than a CNC job. I could cast items that size (lost wax casting) but it would probably be a trademark infringement of some sort. To be a true replica, you're correct. The result likely wouldn't be visibly distinguishable from the original, except for the un...

Reproduction Pre-1974 Aluminum Tailpiece / Bridge
For those of you who have not seen my post on the "Rickenbacker Guitars and Basses" Facebook page, after having reproduction aluminum saddles made for the pre-1974 sandcast aluminum bass bridges, I've been asked about the potential for having the aluminum tailpieces and bridges reproduced....

PM Messages Not Sent
Have been sending PM's to those who purchased the repro aluminum bridge saddles and some have been stuck in the "Outbox". How can I get them to be sent?

Re: Aluminum Saddles
The saddles are here! Just picked them up from the CNC shop and they are great. The photo shows one of the saddles polished vs. as they will be shipped. I will be contacting those who ordered for their postal mail address.

Just got back from the CNC machinist, and the ETA for the saddles is next Wednesday, 2/10. Once I pick them up, I'll contact all who ordered a set (or sets) with the final cost.

Re: Aluminum Saddles
For those who have committed to purchasing the saddles, I spoke with the CNC shop today, and they are still on schedule for finishing them this month. They also confirmed that for the initial order of 100 pieces (25 sets), the cost per piece is $7.50 each, which means that the cost per set is $30, w...

Re: The saga continues... (v68)
It's here! Haven't tweaked the setup yet but it's playing great out of the box. Thanks, Larry! :D Sort-of unrelated question: When the E string is in tune, every subsequent note (starting with 1st position F) is quite flat. The strings on this bass are really old, so I'm wondering if that would be ...

The body end was taken care of in the prior repair.sloop_john_b wrote:I'm not sure, actually. No photos, but Larry did say "I’m just about done with the repair to the neck – I’ll then do the new thrust block for the end of the truss rods."cassius987 wrote:Nothing new at the body end?

Thanks! Since this one's the 44th anniversary of my 21st birthday, I'll have to warn the local fire department before lighting the cake's candles!

Re: The saga continues... (v68)
John (and All), Sorry to hear that your having problems with your bass. Going back to the original repair, it appeared to be the result of a "softness" in the wood, and solely in the bass side of the neck, which resulted in that side's truss rod pulling through the neck both at the heel an...
