What year is Buck's 360? I thought I read it was 1980 but I've been unable to retrace my internet steps...

Re: Obscene Musicians Friend Sale
There's a big thread on the Talk Bass about the deal, pretty interesting. So far they've reported receiving a 2010, a 2011, and someone had a cracked hardshell case which MF is replacing. MF will always take back guitars and basses for a full refund, and usually they re-sell the opened returned as &...

Re: Neck width.. if you could
I had a 660 and really liked the neck. I would absolutly buy a 360 with the 660 neck, best of both worlds! I would still keep and rock my 330 as well. Rickenbacker made a cool one-off like this, in gun metal grey with black hardware I believe. I would order one of those the day it was available and ...

Re: Peter Bucks Sound
Mmm... where did I see the red plectrum last... oh, wait, I use one of Peter's picks myself  Cool :D what brand/thickness is it? They're red Dunlop nylon .73 mm - I know he's used yellow ones as well, as a friend got some in the 80s. What thickness these yellows are I don't know. I don't even ...

Re: Winfield Vintage Trapeze Tailpiece
I put one on my 330 and love it. No modification needed. It is much easier to re-string, and it made the guitar strings buzz less. I think it was the change of the break angle, but now it sounds slightly tighter, more focused, and less buzz-y. I wasn't expecting this in any way, but it is a welcome ...

12 gauge strings on a 660/6
Hi all, I recently snagged a 660/6, really cool guitar. I was wondering if I could put 12 gauge strings on it without needing to adjust the truss rod? I like 11s normally, on my 330 and Fenders, but the 660's short bridge seems to make the strings a bit looser than I am used to. 12s are not scary, a...

Re: So I did it... but how long should I wait?
New Ric shipping from Nashville to the East Coast, with the weather being nicer, I shouldn't have to wait to open it, right?
Oh yea bought a new 660!

Re: At a crossroads in trying to get my first Rickenbacker
Hi, I’m a lurker here, an active reader but never post. I am a big Beatles and REM fan and I am looking to get a Rickenbacker to cover that territory. There is a 2005 at my local Guitar Center in very good condition at a fair price but I have always fancied getting a JetGlo (like Lennon and Buck). ...

Re: Peter Buck's Alternate Stringing
Cool thread and good info. I'm interested in the idea mentioned of Buck playing "rolled chords", anyone have any video examples of this?

Changed from R to a Trapeze tailpieces, some questions..
Hi all, I changed the R tailpiece on my 08 330 to a trapeze. As others have reported, the tone is somewhat sharper, more metallic I suppose. I actually like it this way, it sounds the same plugged in but unplugged it's a nicer tone I think. One thing I noticed is the buzzing issues I was sporadicall...

Winfield Vintage Trapeze
Hi all, I am planning on getting one of the Winfield Vintage trapeze adapters for my 2008 330, and using the trapeze instead of the R tailpiece. I'm looking for easier string changes, and honestly some variety too. Too much time with a Strat has left me a tinkerer :) Anything I should know about the...

Lowest price I could reasonably hope to find a 4003 at?
Hi all, I am considering getting a new/barely used 4003 bass to go along with my 330. I am not experienced in the pricing of this model, however, and was hoping to know what prices I should look for. I see most stores and ebay listings around $1600-1700 or so, but in my experience with the guitars s...
